well i replied once, but it wouldnt take, i made it to 135 mph in my 00gt, which i just traded off. , that was as fast as i wanted to go, was getting kinda scary, but what a rush, i miss that car already. , i did strip off my power adder's before trading it.

We have all probably tried this at one time or another. One time in the desert, many years ago, I got carried away with speed. Fortunately, nothing bad happened.
A word of caution, this is a risky thread and I certainly do not believe that we should support high speed driving other than at the track. First, someone could kill themselves AND we could be implicated in supporting this type of behavior. Don't laugh...I think something like this has already happened in the past. Imagine if one of us nailed a tree at 130+ and got killed and someone in the family started checking out email sites and found people encouraging driving at high rates of speed? PLEASE drive responsibly...for the safety of everyone and the reputation of Mustang owners. So, let's assume that any posted speeds were at the track? Right? Sorry, for sounding like an old fart. I hope I am not out of line.

I know high speeds are dangerous and should be kept to the track, but I we probably all get a little carried away sometimes. Try to be smart about where you get carried away at though....don't be in traffic, etc.
With that being said, I have had the Stang up just a little over 130 and the motorcycle proabably in the same neighborhood.

I have driven on parts the autobaun in Germany. It legal to go 130 ok. I drove a ford tarus at over 130. They make cars to go fast there. This car had absolutely no torque it loped along in second at 40 mph but it did have the trans and gears for real top end. I was passed at 130 like I was standing still. Had to stay in the slow lane.
The Mercedes and BMW 7 series rule the roads there with the occasional Porche. Hell the taxis in many places are mid to small Mercedes. It is hard to find an auto transmission. Rental cars don't have them. I've driven Opals at 130+. Even the white lines in the middle of the lanes are longer and further apart than here so it does not look so fast. And these people do drive 130 and faster in traffic (on the autobaun) at least that is what I've seen. If you get a chance to go, do rent a car and drive. Don't know how long they will keep letting the speed stay up. I am sure in some places the limits have been lowered from none to something more reasonable like 100 mph. How about Nevada? Are there still unlimited stretches there?

Montana was the state that had no speed limits. I don't know if they still do or not. They actually posted "reasonable and prudent" as the speed limit and I read an article that said if you were doing over 100, you were usualy ticketed.
Marty - Thanks for defining o.d.c for me. As you know, I am like half your age, so I followed you sig and never asked. But now I know old man !

I too have been on the autobahn but I spent a little more time on the autostrade in Italy. I was riding a Ducati 600 belonging to a friend. I think I hit about 215kmh (sorry I am Canadian) and then it was sheer " I am gonna piss myself fear" and I was still getting passed.

To tell the truth, I honestly don't know how fast I've been in the ol' 89 but I did better than 102 in the 1320. That was before the new motor. The speedo goes to 85 soo.. more than 85 on the street. I really don't know what the top end is on that car and I never had it at the top because frankly, it never wanted to stop pulling... late night, top down and a feeling I'll never forget. Looking back, I probably shouldn't have done it but life is full of choices and we each make our own.. and live with them. The fastest I've ever known that I've gone on the street is 145mph on an 86 V-Max I owned about 15yrs ago. The advertised top speed was 145 and I wanted to see if it would do it. Middle of winter and I thought I was going to be blown off the damn thing and then realized the back road I was taking was full of pot-holes.. was only there for a few seconds.
So basically, if you find yourself going too fast for the conditions.. its not because you read it on some messageboard, its because you're human. Be safe brothers.

around 125 in the GT in a race out on a 4-lane divided hwy when no one else was on the road except us. I REALLY wanna go to an oval track and take it to 140. If I go over 100 its usually on the interstate or a 4-lane divided hwy with little to no traffic and on a bright sunny day. Otherwise, it's just not worth the risk.

Oh, and this was just not smart. I did 130, then 120 on the back of a friends Hyabusa, fastest and quickest vehicle I've EVER been on.

I've had the Stang at 135, the Olds at 105 (speed limiter), and the Ninja at an indicated 170. Here is a pic of 160 on it, and here is the vid of the 160mph run. Couldn't go to the 170 mark on that vid because traffic was coming up pretty damn fast!!

I had my 90 gt up to about 135is at about 3:30 in the morning. There was absolutely no one else on that stretch of freeway. That car has the sloppiest suspension Ii have ever felt. It was definately the most scarriest thing I have ever done in it. i was cruisin along, when I hit a dip in the road, and decided since i loved through it, to slow the hell down. i have had my 01 to about 110.
