Cool

Next thing you could do is,replace those restrictive factory "headers" to compliment the rest of your exhaust set-up that you have

Sounds like chassis mods are coming along nicely. How about a set of machined heads+cam, a shot of nitrous with fuel system upgrade or a used blower kit to bring some more on the power side?

I would either get a new set of heads or have your heads and intake fully ported with a cam. The GT-40 heads you have are great cast iron heads with some port work. I at least think a cam should be on the agenda.

If I had your setup I'd put some headers on there asap, I'd just want to see the difference. They'd have to help.. it seems to be the bottle neck at this time.

I have to wonder if a cam will make the 1.72s tap the valve covers. I'd probably get a cam but make sure I had enough $ left after all mods to get valve covers if they are needed.

Hmm.. a bigger maf would probably help as would porting the heads and intake. I agree with the others, those heads and intake still have alot of miles left in them.

Oh and a blower would be nice, of course.(maybe down the road?)

Well since you are set on getting a set of heads, I personaly would go with the Trick Flows. I think I have seen a set for just under $800. If ou want me to see if I can find where they are just let me know.

I'd start with getting rid of the nasty Cobra computer system you've got. Go with a Pro-M 75mm MAF calibrated for 24lb injectors along with a GT computer to give you more aggressive fuel delivery and timing, along with a quicker open loop response time.

Then I'd focus in on a better cam, and porting the GT-40's.

Then save whatever was left for a supercharger.

I agree with Unit, why spend money when you don't have to? You have good parts and you won't see the full benefit from new heads without spending more money on the other parts(maf, headers, cam, computer).

I'd get the other parts, port what you have and then maybe get a custom chip. I think that would be money much better spent.

But hey.. its your money.

I tried to respond to your email, and use the one from here too and no such luck. So I'll just give you the link on here for those Trick Flow heads. You can get them at Hawaiiracing for $879. Lemme know if thats what you were looking for.

Matt, I heard the computer in the 94 & 95 Cobra's are crap. Maybe you should try replacing that first before the heads...If you do go with the heads, wait till Bryan puts his AFR's on so you can get some input on them. Also, if you haven't already done so, you might want to try and posting this over in the Modular Board.

Question

Why would he post in modular? He's got a 5.0. Not to sound harsh, but many pushrod guys "like myself" don't really know a bunch about the internals of the 4.6 mod motors, and many of them don't know the 5.0 well either.

I would say grab a strut tower brace to finish of your chassis, they are cheap (100). Also, get some headers to complete your exaust stuff. maybe an intake too

Cool

Don't apologize to me, I've had enough brain farts lately myself. Like thinking the stock heads could make 310RWHP. I don't know where that came from. Whoops!

I was really rough on a couple of members just backing up my posts with info, but not really thinking about it. That's about 375hp, to get that on stock heads would take me a week of calculus equations and a tub of JB Weld!!!

UUUHHHH!!! Calculus!!! Anyway, I found an old article from 5.0 mag that installed a Pro-M computer and 77mm mass air sensor. Granted it was on a Cobra that already ran a 12.51, but it got the car down to a 12.27. I wonder how much it would help a basically stock Cobra??
