Default Proshifted tremecs rule!!!

I am so pumped! About 6 months ago i bought a Tremec TKO II proshifted by liberty. I could never get the thing to down shift without grinding the hell out of it so I never drove it but a few times I put it up for sale, but know one wanted a trans that was not street friendly. I was stuck!
As time passed by I watched the movie "fast and the ferious" and the big dude was talking about double clutching. This got eveyone talking about how you never double clutch in a drag race, and people were asking what it even was. Anyways someone said "double clutching is not needed any more because a modern trans has syncros". I was like CRAP my trans has no syncros and now I feel retarded because I just learned something from the lame movie Fast and the ferious
Well I went and tested it out today and it downshifts like butter. This thing is so cool, I can bang through the gears like a prostocker but still drive the thing on the street. 5TH gear is like a .86 so when I shift into 5th it is like a real gear not a econo gear. I love this thing!!! I will be doing a good amount of street driving this summer, so I can put the hurting on the camaros that spanked me in my 93!

the tko 2 doesnt have syncros? or just the proshifted ones?

do you have to "double clutch" all the gears, or only when downshifting?

Only the proshifted ones. You only have to doubleclutch when downshifting.

what is double clutching?

Is it just pumping it twice? Like you have to do when putting it in reverse cuz it has no syncros?

1.Push in the clutch and put it in neutral
2. let the clutch out and give it a little rev
3. push clutch in and downshift

I couldn't beleive it, it downshifts smoother then a trans with syncros, but it just takes a little longer to downshift. The only catch is you have to downshift in order. You can't skip gears or it will grind like hell.

Default US41 is reserved!!!

Hey Wade. Have you had that thing on the strip yet since the new tranny has been in? If not now's your chance. We have US41 reserved again for April 20th. Tell all your buddies over there in Illinois. Cost will be $25 and there is going to be a reaction time contest. Sign up here... http://www.indianastangers.com/mr-signup2.htm

Unfortunately I won't be there because my car won't be done until the end of summer. I'd like to go because surely by now you should have eveything replaced that is going to break huh?

Congrats on figuring out how to drive that beast. I feel sorry for any Camaro that dares mess with you.

Ever watch Bullit? You can hear him double clutching that Mustang everytime he shifts. Cool chase scene!

I had it there once. The first run I took it easy to get the feel for it. I was granney shifting at 5000rpm, and took it easy off the line and still ran a 11.9 The second run I was going to give it all it had, but the rear end blew into 100's of peices (you were there).

I should be able to make it to the track on the 20th. That sucks that your car won't be ready. I wanted to line them up 347 vs 351. We prety much are running the same parts (heads, intake, trans) axcept for the cam.

I will have some good fun on the street. I put the lowering springs back on with the 28" slicks. It kind of covers them up because they are tucked under the fender walls. I am going to tint the back window so you can't see the roll cage, and I am trying to find a 2 1/2 cowel hood. I will look allot slower then it is so it will be fun.

I'm actually not sure what cam I am going to run yet. I may still opt to go with an Ed Curtis custom. If I did have my car there you'd still smoke me bad because I'm not setting it up for drag racing. It's going to have a cornering suspension under it.

I didn't realize you had the TKOII in the car when you blew the rear end up. What do you have in the rear now for axles? Didn't you shred a set of Mosers last time? If you keep this up you're going to have to try to get that 60ft time back up to the 1.5's!!!!!!!

I may have to come up and watch you run just for the hell of it. You still owe me that ride too, but we'll not talk about that because every time we do you break your Stang

Later.

I know! it seems like my car is always breaking parts. That is why I am giving up the dragracing thing and going back to a street terror machine.
If I make it to the track you will get the ride for sure because I will take is easy so nothing breaks this time.

I almost forgot... 1.4's
