A Stumper T-bird Repair Question...

My 91 T-bird, 5.0 (not the super coupe) runs terrible til it warms up. The first 5-10 it is running it hesitates and jerks and worst of all stalls in the most inconvenient places. I have had everything done to it including, tune-up, fuel system cleaned, fuel filter replaced...spark plug wires changed, the diagnogstic machines show nothing!!! could it be my thermostat or maybe some sort of oxygen sensor, please help this has been going on for months!!! by the way, the cooler the temp the worse it runs. thanks

is it mass air, or speed density?

i have no idea what kind of diagnostics this repair shop uses. if that is what you were referring to.

I'm pretty sure all the 5.0's went to MAF in 1989 Mach 1.

Yeah, MAF sensor sounds like it, but could be a coolant temp or air intake temp sensor problem(?). Either way, probably an a/f issue.

Try tapping on the MAF body with a screwdriver handle and see if it reacts. Um, just for giggles, try checking the firing order. Good luck. http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...oard/smile.gif
