System From You Know Where!!!

well I can say I am finally done with my system...I am running the following
Pioneer Premier HU
2 JL 10W-1 in a ported box
Lightning Audio In all factory places (ask me about them I am a rep)
800W Pyramid Crystal Series amp(subs)
Jensen 220W Amp running highs
Bass Blockers on highs

I know it dosent sound like much but it literly is so loud it hurts...yet it is also so clear it sounds like the band is in my back seat

not that any of you really care but I am just really proud and am telling everyone...also is anyone in drving distance from paducah KY? I wanna meet so of you guys...and gals

Sounds like a nice system! I love listening to quality sound. Ive found that the MACH1000 pretty much kicks ***. Not quite as good as the cutom setup in my Dakota, but reaalllllllll darn close

PKRWUD 06-21-2002 08:34 PM

As long as you like it, that's all that counts!

I've had a difficult time setting up a good system in my F-150, but I finally am happy with it. It would have been much easier if I still had a trunk!

:)

Take care,
-Chris

I've got....

JVC digifine HU
Pioneer 6 1/2 2 ways(soon to be replaced by componets)
Pioneer 6x8 2 ways
Infinity Kappa 3 1/2's
HiFonics Taurus 50w x 4, mids and highs
JBL BP600.1, Class D for my subs
two Kicker Comp VR's in a sealed box

When you gonna ditch the 200watt Pyramid amp;)

Lets face it Belle is gonna have us all beat....by a LOT

Pkrwud, PM me and I'll give you some suggestions and help you set one up.:)

rbatson 06-22-2002 12:28 PM

That's cool! Isn't lightning a product of Rockford Fosgate? I too am surprised by the Pyramid name being in the list but, as long as it works:).

I was happy with my old system but it was stolen and I tried to replace it with better stuff but... my old system was much much clearer. I think its the ecplise amp(had a Pioneer) that is ruining it for me. Not sure but, if that isn't it then it has to be the head unit.. I had a 6000 series Pioneer and decided to go with a 4000 series this time(the specs looked very close).

Anyhow, cool!:)

tireburner163 06-22-2002 01:03 PM

Rbatson, no lightning audio isn't a division of Rockford Fosgate.

It's probably you HU that's you problem, that eclipse amp should be a lot better an the Pioneer.

tireburner163 06-22-2002 01:09 PM

302blownpony have you ever gotten your system metered? If so what did you hit?

I've got to go get mine done soon. I should hit in the high 130 Db range, maybe into the low 140's

rbatson 06-22-2002 01:11 PM

Josh, that is the exact thing I was thinking until I saw the THD on the eclipse amp. The Pioneer amp was something like .03 or .05 and the eclipse amp is a staight up .1%. I'm not saying eclipse makes crap but in the amp territory, .1% is a class D THD. A class A or B should be much much lower. I think they 'may' make good stuff, such as speakers or head units but a .1 THD is unacceptable. When I find the exact cause I may have to eat my words but.. that is the world as I see it.

tireburner163 06-22-2002 01:43 PM

hummm......that's is a lot. Maybe it is a amp:confused:

FivepointOH 06-22-2002 01:47 PM

How do you guys with big systems in your foxes keep your hatch from rattling? I got a little 10" punch pushed by a 200w kenwood amp in mine and the hatch rattles like crazy sounds like crap.

on the hatch there are little black plastic/'rubber screws on either side of the hatch. Unscrew them some, so that they hold the hatch closed more tightly. I have a mild problem with it rattleing(dynomatt soon). I've got mine set pretty tight, you've got to close it pretty hard for it to latch.

tireburner163 06-22-2002 01:55 PM

oh that's with my subs shooting staight up towards the hatch. You can try pointing the sub toward the interior compartment(ie you)

Dark_5.0 06-26-2002 04:25 PM

I hit 146 db at the sound competition last year.

With 3 punch XLC 12's in a regular cab 98 chevy truck.

Dark_5.0 06-26-2002 04:29 PM

Tireburner I would say you are in the low 130's

Mustangbelle306 06-26-2002 05:26 PM

Josh :D you're too sweet! I gotta break out the Dynomat soon, I'm really excited about this amp! Matt was all gung-ho for it, but I wasn't too sure about it bc of the freekin price, but I know its going to be worth it!!!

5.0L_Of_Fury 06-27-2002 11:00 AM

Josh, hate to break it to you but yes Lightning Audio IS a Rockford Fosgate Product (I shouyld know Im a rep) and about the Pyramid....I bought it for 80 bucks from a friends when I was first getting into audio....and I belive it will also be the next kind I buy..I love it...I know people with punch 500's and such and mines not as loud but I have the cleanest bass you will ever hear...and picked up my new box yesterday...its just a ported box but the guy that built it cut out the JL symbol real big out of styrofoam(thin) and glued it to the wood on top before he put carpet on it as a result I have the JL symbol raised up in my carpet ITS SWEET. I will get a pic soon

oh, I so sorry:o

Dark 5.0, I was thinking more like high 130's. They are in a hatchback, and are being fed about 800 watt's. I'll let you know in a few weeks;)

BTW, was your truck metered off the dash or the port?

Oh, 302blownpony, I thought you might like my background. You can get it and several more at JL's web site

Dark_5.0 06-27-2002 12:40 PM

For some reason I thought your car had a trunk.

Yeah, High 130's sounds about right. My truck was metered off the dash.

Its hard to tell sometimes......My friend has a mid eighties blazer with 2 solo isobaric 15's and a monster Kicker amp. He got 143 db.

I guy with a stang like yours had 2 JL audio W0 15's and a 300 watt amp and also hit 143 db

Dont pick a song with long drawn out bass....Short deep bass usually meters higher.

Good luck,
