Texas bound
Well, it is official...I am moving out of California and going to Texas within the next few months...Houston to be exact. I am getting my engine built and boosted safely and then I am moving.
|
I hear Texas is full of weirdo's, but I'm sure you're prepared for that by now.

Calling U-Haul
Sounds like a good move.
I'm an easterner but if I went west, it would probably be Texas. California is a beautiful, temperate state (I lived there a few years and visited again in '98) but it's been overrun by political whackos (enviromentalists, gays, liberals in general including Governor Grey-out Davis) and the taxes and regulations must be a burden. Texas seems a bit less temperate but certainly more friendly - and the muscle car scene seems to be thriving. Good luck. |

California Dreamin' - and waking up in a cold sweat
Induction:
The worst part; the SF Valley. North Hollywood, to be specific. |
Texas is a cool state if you like cars. I think Cali is cool but I was born and raised here in Texas and I love it here.
Lots of 5.0's in TX. |
I love Texas, born in SA, and have lived in Midland/Odessa the rest of the time, I never liked Houston, always made me mad having to go down there, but West Texas is great.:D

Diverse
Texas, like California is a huge state and very diverse. From swamps to deserts, beaches to mountains, piney woods to plains. Houston is also very diverse itself and you'll find all kinds of people here, both good and bad. I'm sure you'll find people that you will enjoy assiciating with if you look for them. What many find unpleasant is the heat and the humidity in the summer. I grew up with it so it doesn't bother me much, but it's hard for a lot of folks. Traffic in Houston can be a pain sometimes. I try to fix it so I'm always going in the opposite direction of the traffic jam, but that only works if you can pick where you live and work. Also helps if you can pick the time of day when you want to go somewhere. I know that sounds kind of screwy, but it works for me. Anyway welcome to Houston.

I'll probably be moving at the end of October. I am getting my fuel system together and ordering my pistons so I can boost my Supra. I am looking forward to running some decently modded Stangs. I'm tired of beating up on light modded Stangs with my light modded Supra...time to step up a league. I visited Houston in June/July and I saw how bad the driving was....It is amazing that people who drive so slow, can also drive as horrible as they do. I saw a lot of Stangs and F-bodies when I visited and very few modded imports so I know that people are going to think that my car is "prey" but they will be in for a big surprise.:D :D :D Oh, and my mom got caught by one of the F-body police cars doing 90 on the 288, so I know I need to get some kind of radar detection.:p :p

Hey Mr 5.0 i think im gonna have to disagree with ya about what you mentioned about california. Im not sure how deep set on your comment you are but if you truly believe that youve fallen victim to a stereotype.
California as a whole has not been ran over by liberals and gays. yes they are here but im sure there arent any more than there are in the East. I agree Gray Davis is an idiot and we do have high taxes and gas etc. You could call that a burden but its what we like to call the "Sunshine Tax" here :D I would much rather pay more for stuff like that and have the greatest weather anywhere than live in snow lol. Anyways i just had to say that. Northern California i guess could be considered more liberal and Southern California maybe isnt as much but California is so diverse you cant just say its ovverun by liberals and gays etc. Just my humble opinion of course :) Anyways good luck on the move Inferno! Later, Nick |
San Francisco
Not really sure, but I bet that Mr 50 was thinking more in terms of San Francisco.
Rev |
Wow MR 5.0, sounds like you really hate California?
Anyone that says they hate it so bad probably just wish they lived here. Lets see, never gets colder than 40 degrees, and only on a few nights. Nice warm sunny summers. No snow to deal with. But yet I can drive 40min and be in the snow. Hmm.... Then I can also drive 20min and be at the beach. I think I'll deal with all the wackos. Skyler |

I lived in Van Nuys for 7 years, and I'd still rather live there than any other state, but you and I know this county rocks. Of all the places I've lived and travelled to, Ventura County is my favorite. You just can't beat the climate, not to mention the geography! Skiing in the morning and surfing in the afternoon, followed by a dinner cruise out to the islands and some twilight deep sea fishing. Sky, we do have it good. We live in an area that is remote enough that it has a "small town" feel, yet we're less than an hour from the second largest city in the country in one direction, and Santa Barbara in the other. But, it's not for everybody. Some people are more comfortable in a humid climate, and others enjoy shoveling snow. Take care, ~Chris |

The traffic actually isn't too bad here. There are worse parts. the 405, The Financial District, Down Town, Little Tokyo Area among others. I actually have no big complaints on the traffic here. |
I'm never ganna get over how many gay bars there are in No Ho. I've never seen that many Once night A few friends and I were looking for a place to eat, about 2 in the morning. We passed I think 4 before we found a place and 3 more after. I've found more since that night. That one night, we found a really, ummm, bad one. Lots of guys standing on the streatr wearing leather and leashes and nasty things like that. God....ewwwww....
Anyways, thankfully where I live it's actually nice. LEave the back door unlocked. We left a cam shaft in the ally once, sat there for a full, 2 days and was still there. I keep my bike in the back door, unlocked. Anyways, No. Ho. I have to say is one of the worst places to ummm, visit. Thankfully I'm far enough away. Anyways... I've lived in plently of other places, in Cali, and visited even more. There are plenty of nice plabes to live, you just gotta find em. My home town is one of em... |
