Thumbs down Timeslips attached/ need suggestions

Here are the timeslips from this last weekend. I was the number 60 car. Mike was in the 59 car, despite the number 51 on the last pass, it was Mike (the deuce). My family keeps asking me what I want for Christmas so I'm getting all car parts. IMO, the timeslips are correct (correct time/ speed) and the speed was low for two reasons; because it was my first trip to the track, and because my car wasn't tuned correctly. I ran without the s/c because I think the bearings are going out on it. By the time I run again, it'll be hooked up. I need suggestions on what I should do next, add more support for the s/c (injectors, fuel pump), or add an intake, or add suspension parts? I want this to be a daily driver that can dip into the mid to high 12's. (I can't get heads or a cam yet) If you have any other suggestions other than what I listed, please let me know. Thanks, Keith

Second run. I progressively get better on my reaction time, but my first run was the best overall run out of them all.

Fourth run. I missed third on this run due to the stock shifter and my lack of experience.

Forgive me for saying, but if you're running 15s, you either have a V6 or you DO need some good suggestions.
With a 1.0 reaction, you did what many beginners do. You probably waited until you saw green before hitting the gas.
You should leave when you see the last yellow.
What were you driving anyway?
I'm no expert, but I've been down the strip a few times.
My best is 13.8 at 102 in my 96 Cobra with a few mods.

Default Fifth run

Here was the last run. I finally got the jump on Mike, but lost it in between 2nd and 3rd. I was driving my 93 5.0 without the s/c. Any suggestions are welcome, thanks, Keith.

Oh yeah, if you suggest sticky tires, please specify which ones.

At what rpm are you launching? Are you spinning the tires?
At what rpm do you shift?
Even a stock 5.0 should run 15.0 or better, I think. My ragged out 89 GT ran 15.0 at 90 mph with 130,000 miles on it and no mods. That was my first time at the strip.
If you plan to keep this thing and keep visiting the strip, get gears. 3.55 or 3.73

I think I need to get some traction.

You need to bump the timing and run an n/a plug. Or you could get the blower fixed. Either way, I'll still beat you.

Deuce your 60ft's are the worst I have ever seen. If you would slip the clutch out of the whole instead of spinning the H3LL out of the tires you would run consistant 14's.

I dont care what anyone says, that track is phucked.

any 86 and up GT should be able to hit 90mph bone stock.

I really dont know what to say

It was like driving on ice man. I left like a little old lady the time I cut a 2.59. I'm thinking I could launch in second w/o spinning. The track was really cold. Guys I talked to were .2-.3 off their 60's, and those are guys with slicks.

slicks? what gears are you running btw?

what are you shifting at? do you use a shift light and an aftermarket tach?

Are you shifting it like a grain truck (long delay between gear changes)... if you run an auto forget I mentioned that

Reguardless of traction your trap speed suggest a lack of HP. I suggest checking all of your plug wires and make sure one of them isnt burned up or something.

When I first bought my stang and it was stock it ran a 15.4 @87mph.............Clogged cat's were my problem I installed an O/R X-pipe and ran a 14.79 @93mph.

Finding out whats wrong with your car and slicks should drop you into the 14's no problem.

If your car is a 4 lug I have some rims you can have. So you can mount some slicks on them.

Later,

I was shifting around 5000 rpm's each time I shifted. I tried to vary it, and shift around 4500 rpm's on first gear, and it didn't do anything. I think one of the things that held me back is how long I would spin before I got traction. I have BFG Comp T/A's on the rear in 225/50/16 on a 4 lug rim. I need to get slicks, but I'm not sure which kind to look into, what size (s) to look for, or even how much backspacing I have to use. I am working on getting a tach with a shift light, but money's tight right now (like it ever isn't, lol) so I'm trying to trade someone for their tach. My car's basically a stock engine (see profile for mods, on the 93) seeing as how the s/c is unhooked right now. Any help is appreciated, thanks, Keith
