TREMEC OR T-5Z ??????
OK I NEED TO GET THAT AOD THE HE11 OUT OF THE STANG AS SOON AS I GET BACK FROM AAMCO AND REPLACE IT WITH A MANUAL. MY QUESTION IS THIS:
IF THIS GUY STILL HAS IT, I CAN GET THIS TREMEC3550 FOR 700 WITH ALL IT TAKES TO GET IT INTO AN ALREADY MANUAL STANG. THERE IS ALSO A SWAP MEET THIS WEEKEND IN COLUMBUS AND I ESTIMATE THAT I COULD GET A T-5Z TRANNY FOR AROUND 900. I STILL HAVE TO GET ALL THE OTHER PARTS FOR THE CONVERSION. I HAVE THE 4.10S SO I WAS THINKING THAT THE "z" MIGHT BE THE WAY TO GO WITH THE TALLER RATIO SINCE IT GETS A LOT OF DRIVING. HOWEVER 700 FOR THE TREMEC IS A DAM GOOD DEAL BUT HAVE HEARD A LOT OF BAD CRAPP ABOUT ITS SHIFTING. ALSO CAN THIS SHIFTING PROBLEM BE FIXED WITH THE PRO5.0 SHIFTER? SOME HAVE DONE THIS WITH MUCH IMPROVEMENT. THANKS. MODS BELOW ------------------ 1987 black with t-tops. Cobra intake, 1.7 cobra crane rollers, gt40p's, bbk shorties, off road h-pipe, adj. FPR, rebuilt aod w/shift kit, 65mm TB, 4.10's 12.90's at best |

I just put a tremec in my car 2 weeks ago. I love it wish I had done it a long time ago. To me it shifts better than my T5. I have the steeda Tri-ax shifter. It is a little bit lounder than my t5 was but I can live wih it. So far I don't have anything bad to say about it.

Yes I did use gm fluid. Not real sure how to exlain the sound. Its not like its hurting my ears loud, it just makes noise where my t5 didn't. Or maybe it did and I never paid any attention to it.

I have heard of people not liking the factory Tremec shifter. I got a pro5.0 when I got my tremec and I love this Trans.

I have a World HD T-5 and I love it. shifting is effortless, but it has been worked alot, gears synchros ect. with an aftermarket shifter (short throw's) but I also know of a few guys with tremecs that love them too. Try finding out about which one has more abuse and wear.(history) that might also influence your decission
Also running 4.10's here |

I have the same problem. Except i replaced my AOD with a T-5 and now i need to replace thee T-5 with something. I've got 4.10's in the car also, with an S trim, aluminum heads, and cobra intake etc... I think you'd like the tremec better in my opinion. You'd appreciate it down the road if you did any heavy mods to your car. I know i wish i would have just skipped the T-5 and gone straight for a tremec. But now i can't decide if i want to go TKO or 3550. I know my T-5 is not a world class Z t-5, but i think you would appreciate the tremec's ability to take more torque than a T-5. That's just my opinion though. i'm no expert at all that's for sure.
