![]() My girlfriends has a 96 honda civic and it is running a little rough. After the car has warmed up it will stutter alot. It will do this in every gear. Also after sitting at idle for a few minutes the engine will stutter and eventually stall. I was just going to give it a tune up, new fuel filter. What do you guys think?

![]() that's an easy question... slap some stickers on it, and a huge wing... it will fix your probelm and give you an additional 100 HP.
![]() Just kidding ![]() It sounds like it might be an ignition problem. I don't know anything about imports (other then they are slow) I would look at the distrubitor or the mag pickup, what ever it has. A tune up wouldn't hurt. |

![]() My CRX was doing the same thing a little over a year ago, the problem was the timing belt was strecthed. It eventually broke, and let me tell you changing the timing belt sucks.
It could be something as simple as a plug wire....I would check all the basics first cap, rotor, plugs and wires. Later,

![]() Thanks guys. Im going to replace the plugs, cap, rotor. The wires are new so they should be fine. Do you think i should bother changing the fuel filter? I will also check the timing belt.

![]() Clogged gas filter is a likely culprit as any other but if you can borrow or rent a code scanner that would be a big help.

![]() See if it has an Idle Air Control valve. That's usually the cause of those problems.

![]() How many miles are on it? Honda recommends changing the timing belt every xxxxx amount of miles before it breaks. A broken timing belt can do a pile of damage on some cars ( valves hitting pistons ). I would change the timing belt if it has a pile'o' miles.
