Question What's the weight of a 1995 GT?

Anyone know for sure the weight of a 1995 GT? It has 17" Cobra R's with 255/40's up front and 275/40's in the rear-I know that doesn't help but I don't want the run of the mill Draglites either. I'm trying to guesstimate the ET's and I don't know the weight.
Thanks,
Todd

You should be around 3200lbs. I'm assuming you're a coupe.

Yep, it's a coupe. 3200? That's it? Wow, I thought they were heavier years. So, I'll assume the Cobra R's with the wider tires are a bit heavier than the stock 245's by a few pounds. On the high side, do you think maybe 3250 or so?

Todd, you're a cop. You must have access to a scale. Even at a recycling plant or a dump. Somewhere.

Take care

Nope. No recylcing plant or dump nearby. However, I do live by the Moroso strip, so sometime soon I'll have to swing by and jump on the scale. My Chevlelle was completely gutted and believe it or not, that heavy 1971 Chevy weighed 3150 give or take when I was done hogging it out. But as you know, our Stangs are different. It's my daily car so I'm not about to tear it apart. Maybe a glass hood if anything. And no, it's not me pulling over your mom, lol. Tell her if she gets stopped in Palm Beach County to just say, "Hey, my son's Peckerwood!" If it's me, she'll be on her way, if not, the cop will probably scratch his head and die laughing.

It is heavier than the Fox's. A similar Fox would weigh between 3050-3100.

You're car may actually weigh more like 3250 now, but it's just an estimate.

Hey Todd,

I have a 95 GT with the following:
Keith Craft 331, Trick flow intake, AFR heads, Comp cam, Tremec 3550, chrome cobra R's, with 275 front and 315/35 rear nitto drag radials. leather interior, and so on, everything possible that would make the car heavy. At the texas motorplex close to my home, the car weighed 3710 with me in it, and i weigh 165. most of the guys i know that have a car like mine all weigh close to what mine weighs. good luck finding weight to take out of the car. mine is a coupe.

Thanks Dave. Not that I doubted the other guys' posts, but I heard that the sn95 bodied cars were quite heavy. Curious, with those mods, how'd you run? And what did you do to your computer to get it to run with the cam?

Todd- here's a little breakdown for you of our three cars and what they weigh:
My 95GT convertible in race form: 3510 w/o me
My dad's 91GT w/o him: 3190
My cousin's 94GT coupe: 3350 w/o him

And in contrast, these MPH difference were seen in all of our stock 1/4 MPH. I ran 90mph, my dad ran 94mph, and my cousin ran 93mph.

I'm not Dave, but I used the EEC-Tuner to fix my idle problems with my heads/cam/intake setup. http://www.eec-tuner.com

------------------
1995 NA GT CONVERTIBLE
BEST ET: 12.92
BEST MPH: 106.85
AFR's, FTI cam, edelbrock intake, EEC TUNER and lots more.

Great! Thanks a lot KC. I was scared this thing weighed 3600 pounds. It would take a lot of power to move that much weight with me (220 lbs.) in it. I'll weigh it Friday night and post it for all if the weather allows me to make it to Moroso motorsports park.

Were you able to weigh your car on friday? If so, what did it weigh?
I have run my car 1/8th mile, and it ran 7.86 at 94. That was the best pass the car has made. I was looking into dong a cage so i can "legally" go down the track at fun ford in ennis next month, but i wont be able to do so. the car dyno'ed at 342 rwhp. I am adding a NX 200 hp plate system as soon as they have completed the r&d work on it, and have it ready to ship. when i weighed my "tank" at ennis last year, it was with about 2/3 of a tank of fuel. with all the suspension, (kenny brown), as well as other things added to the car, its just heavy, and i will be looking into having some chromolly bumper supports made, that will drop about 65 pounds, as well as a k member and the like. let me know what yours did. as far as my computer goes, as you are aware, the 94-95 computers are different that the 87-93. i used a chip utilizing autologic software. dallas mustang custom burned it to my application. it made a huge difference in idle quality, and performance as well.

Gee, and my F-150, with tools and 1 full tank of gas (and one empty) only weighs 6020 pounds (5915 w/o the air compressor). Does that mean a fair race would be my truck against a Mustang that is towing another Mustang? Food for thought.

Will do! Thank you kindly! She really is a good driver, she just always seems to be running late.

*Cute Mom Story*
She really pressed her luck one time when she lived in L.A. about 20 years ago: She and I were going somewhere. While waiting to make a left hand turn, an LAPD cruiser coming towards her made a right hand turn onto the same street she was turning onto, without signaling. This upset her because she could have turned right away if she knew he was turning, but since he didn't signal, she waited for him to pass, which he didn't. She had also recently been cited for failing to use her turn signals, whereas she, to this day, swears she did. She got so angry, she sped up until she caught up with the cruiser. She pulled up next to him at a red light, and waved her hands signaling the officer to roll down his window. When he did, she told him his turn signals must be broken, and that he might want to have them looked at. Light turned green, and he just sat there. Made my Mom's day. Scared me big-time (the Van Nuys div. of the LAPD knew me and my '69 Chevelle SS all too well).

BTW, which branch of Palm Beach County's law enforcement do you work for (FHP, Sheriff, etc.)?

Take care
~Chris
