Default The Fast And The Furious??????

This is in response to the post the country is screwed up.. I just got home from work this afternoon and walked in on my son 8yrs. old (home sick w/mom asthma):

It was not gratuitous violence that I saw.

Nope, he wasn't engaged in some strange sex act.

No, he wasn't playing with a weapon.

No, he wasn't maiming a defensless animal.

He was watching a movie on Direct TV.

Not porn or anything like that, WORSE!!!!!

He was watching a movie called the Fast and the Furious..... If you have ever watched this idiotic movie you would know that to the true muscle car fan, this was sheer blasphemy. I immediately realized that I have been remiss as a father.

Watching Civics, preludes and other POS race up and down the streets made me sick to my stomach.

FORD get that 2003 Cobra to market and do it quick. I need to educate my son.

Elliot

I have to admit that I watched that movie in the theatre. My buddy and I took his '67 malibu just to have a good laugh. If you sit and watch the movie there is a lightning as the parts truck. Also, there are subtle points of homage to real horsepower, but you got to look close. The main character is almost always wearing a Duke VonDutch shirt, and he is SCARED to drive the blown Charger in the garage, which runs 9's. Other than that, and as a way to see everything thats wrong with the "import scene" it is a waste of film.

If you forget EVERYTHING you know about what's realistic concerning engines and cars, and just take it for a highly fictional movie, Fast and the Furious is an ok-flick. But, as soon as you expect anything in this movie to be real - it's over.

I actually enjoyed the movie, but then I knew going in that it would be major import BS. So, I just take it for what it is and that's it.... (i.e. Fantasy Entertainment)

10-4

I thought some of the stunts were cool. Driving under the truck etc.

Exclamation Fast and Fantasy

Even if you do put everything about the cars aside, which is hard to do as it's a 'car movie', the plot was stupid and unbelievable.

A 20-something guy spearheads a huge, big-dollar FBI investigation about , what, stereos being stolen off of trucks? Get real! The FBI wouldn't waste the money for such an operation and they wouldn't have some 25-year-old hot-shot running it on the ground.

The cars driving under the trucks was fun to watch but again, totally unrealistic all the way. We all know that one bump from that 45,000 pound truck into the 2800-pound Civic would be the end of the Honda as well as the driver.

All the cops would have to do is put a few well-armed swat-type cops in the trucks and the gang would be toast, fast and furiously.

The cars, well, that was just a rice-boy fantasy. The same as if they made a Mustang movie and every kid in town owned a 10 or 11-second 'Stang. Fun but a fraud all the way. We won't even go into the dumb mechanical errors they made, as they've been beat on endlessly here.

A silly movie but I saw it in a cheap matinee last summer (with my wife) and we enjoyed for what it was. A fantasy. Too bad so many took it seriously. Then again, I saw a tape of 'Bullit' a while back and sure wanted to go race my Mustang over some hills, but I managed to restrain myself when I remembered: It's only a movie!

Just in case anyone cares. I just heard on the news this morning driving in to work that Vince Diesel does NOT want to be in the Fast in the Furious II (yes, they are making a sequel) and the movie studio has now broken off talks with his agent.

Too bad... He's the main thing that made the movie tolerable.

Ohh... god it's too late! He's finished. Unless you cram him with some good ol' muscle car movies for the next 10 years. He just may be ok.

I do admit going to watch the movie at the theaters and at a friends house couple times. But I was no fan of the movie, horrible acting, un-realistic cars, and scenarios. They tried to make the movie look so big but there were so many flaws and mistakes it wasn't even funny.
As for Vince Diesel not staring the second F&TF, do you blame the guy. They made him crash a respectable car. (Even thought it was a Dodge). I say in this second one it's all about Mustangs, Camaro's, Grand Nationals (I Love Them Too), and a whole lot of modern muscle. =)
