It is all going to depend on:

1. What you have done to your car,
2. How much money you want to spend and,
3. Where you want to end up when you are finished?

Answer these questions and then I'll give you some direction.

it's a '99 automatic, it's stock, i haven't done anything to it yet. As far as money goes i'm open to any ideas and i'll from there. And I'm not sure what i'm expecting, like I said, i'm a chic and don't have much experience, just know the basics. I'd just like to get some more horsepower if possible and better performance.

I really appriciate your help- thanks

remove the intake silencer
add a K&N air filter
add a off-road h-pipe
a cat-back
4.11 gears

First, don't expect a lot out of your nice V6 auto. While I think the V6 Mustang is a great car, the performance version is the GT, it will take a lot more money to get your pony as fast as a GT.

Having said that,

Tireburner is right.

Change your rear end gears, I'm not sure on ratios for the 7.5" axles but a 4.11 ratio would be good.

A K&N air filter and cold air kit should be on your list.

You might want to go to a true dual exhaust system, an off road H-pipe (if you have no emissions testing) and a cat back system.

As far as the other bolt ons go like Throttle bodies, pulley's ect. I'm not sure what you'll gain on the 3.8L and what the price and availability is like.

There is a forum for V6 owners on this site, I recommend you visit it.

I'm gonna have to dissagree with 95mustanggt about the cold air induction. It's a big rip off IMO, doesn't flow that much better than the intake ducting and the exhaust header will heat soak the crap out of it and actully slow you down.

You can't!

I agree the CAI kit only adds like 2 hp, but were talking mods here not $/hp. I think Hammer told me once that the V6 CAI kit is the hottest selling V6 performance part at Dallas Mustang.

I reality the stock air box is a CAI (that's why I'm not changing mine yet). But it is a common performance mod (as much of a rip off as it is I guess).

After this discussion you may or may not want the CAI.

Just don't expect a big power increase if you do.

go to this place...

http://www.stungbymystangmotorsports...peed_Shop.html

cheap products for all mustangs, and "starter" kits for V6 Stangs.

You'd be better off getting a desensecharger anyways, CAI's are just nice looking with the chrome which attracts people to them.

They have a kit on there with a desensecharger and ASP underdrive pulleys for your model for 252 dollars. Then your best bet would be to get gears...
3:73's would be my choice, but others are saying 4:11's. Theres a whole topic in the V6 performance section of this site talking about the differences. Best bet...3:73's IMO if your concerned with Gas.

Not having cats is illegal everywhere. But unless there is a actual visual inspection, screw it, who's gonna know.

oh screw that. Who's gonna catch you?

And don't bother gettin it installed, if you can swing a wrench you can install a H-pipe.

If you added up all the people on this site who had off road exaust...Wow! There'd be a lot.

It's not always perfect. I have moved to a province where emissions test is done, so now I have to get a new H-pipe if I want to run my car, kinda sucks but hey I got away for 2+ years with an off-road pipe for CDN$125!
