Default Well, with all the rice talk lately.......

I thought I would just add to it. This Talon belongs to a friend of mine. It ran pretty damm good for a 2 liter, up until he got a little greedy with the boost! heheh...... With the new engine he's building for it, it will be well into the elevens next summer.

These links will take you to the pictures of what happens when you put 27 pounds of boost to a stock bottom end 2.0!

In 20015 you can see a wrist pin that penetrated the pan and dented the exhaust. On the other side of that you can kinda see the big end of the rod, before it goes thru the exhaust. hehehe

Whaddya think?

I LOVE DSM cars!!!!

Whether it be Talon or Eclipse, they are incredible automobiles in boosted trim. I remember I gave them no credit until I rode in my friend's 99 awd GSX with a bigger turbo, etc (ran 11.85) and HOLY CRAP!!!!!!! I was ready to trade the Mustang in right then and there. Not only was it incredibly fast, between the subtle exhaust and aftermarket HKS cams, the car sounded postively SICK and evil spooling up. I'd like to have one as my next car. Unfortunately the stock manual trannys don't withstand to turbo modifications very well, so I'd most likely need an aftermarket tranny....but it'd be worth it!!!

I wouldn't consider that a rice-mobile. It doesn't look tacky and 12s in the qtr mile is legit. I bet he surprises a lot of people on the street.

i usually consider the talons and eclipes as formadable oponants........i have a friend with an eclipes ,it's an all wheel drive with a huge custom managed turbo .......the thing would probly run low 11s maybe 10s.......i rode in it like a week ago things a monster.........it's not modded apearance wise other then nice paint and clean appearance............ ,if you don't notice the huge intercooler in the front ,he'll totally suprise you as he hands your ....*** on the street..........i think it's neat technically ....i was helping him the other day with it and he was telling me about the water injection.......i was like huh ......he injects water in the intake to reduce detonation at higher boosts.....thought that was a cool idea .......there's alot to learn when it comes to the 4 banger crowd ..........it just usally costs alot more when they break em .....plus it's alot harder to fix em ,those eclipes have a pretty tight engine compartment..........a car like that i don't really think of when the word ricer comes up .........it is an import though

I dont really consider it a ricer either. I was just curious what everyone else thought. It seems that most of us have respect for other brands that are fast, just as long as they arent stickered up!

89cobra: Surprised is not the word!.....hehehe More like "HOLY S***! I just got beat by that!" He has humiliated many LS-1's, LT-1's, and even the beloved 5 liter.

Belle: You know the sound of a DOHC 4 cylinder with cams! It is definately something different.

Actually I call his car a corn burner!...hehehehe...... He was running E-85 for awhile. (85% ethanol blend fuel)

Thumbs up

I like the talons, except everyone that I've ever known that had one had so many problems that it just wasn't worth it.

That is a nice clean car. If I had to own an import it would look similar.
