What was the first Ford that caught your eye?

Which car really turned you on to the world of Ford? When you were young
or maybe even recently...

One of my buddies in High School had a black 83 GT 5.0 with a 5 speed and
a whopping 175 ponies! That car changed me forever.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. My 1950 Ford coupe will forever stay in my memory. 100 HP flathead with a 3 on the tree, I loved it dearly. I was 14 and payed a whopping $125 for it. took me a long time to save that much. Just wish I still had it.

My very first boyfriend's dad bought him one for $50 for his 16th b-day. It was a rusted out piece of crap, but at least it ran;
for about 2 weeks untill the fly wheel broke(or something) and was going to cost more to repair than the car was worth. But we had fun learning to drive a stick shift.

Jeez, 4 GTO's? They were the original muscle car standard if mid size with big cubes is the standard.

My best friend had a '64 GTO, tri-power, 4-speed. It went OK, but had a noticeable bog due to vacuum operated progrssive linkage and a fair amount of weight. Over all a nice car in '64.

yeah I had 2 68's and 1 69( that was a screamer) and 70 Judge vert....sold it when I got married....DOH!

Right now I am in the process of looking for a '67goat...or a 69 chevelle...oh and I am keeping C Pony....At this stage of life-I don't need to sell it for anything...

I always like Mustangs, especially in 1994 when they came out with the new body style. When I first saw my 1969 Mustang Coupe it was a piece of crap, but I had a lot of vision, and I knew it would turn out awesome. I loved it. And I got it! My favorite is either 1969 or 1999-2002. What really hooked me on Fords was their engines more than their models.

Most say that the '64 GTO's initiated the muscle cars. To me, the 352 '60 hipo Ford galaxys, 348 Tri-power '58 impalas, 383 Plymouths and all that followed were really the original muscle cars.

Of course these were all full sized cars, but I just loved seeing them smoke those skinny, bias ply tires.

Yeah the Gto was a muscle car but the models you mention most notably the 58 were crankers....they were then as a friends car when going up,his -a old Bonniville 'vert with a 428 and Tri Power setup..whew-hook up the outside cards and stick the pedal and it belched black smoke hesitated and sprang to life....man-quit it guys-I am gonna cry here...LOL

I really also like the new Mustangs-very aggressive stance. Take a new stang,add exhaust,tires,and Procharger and great driving/circumstances and you have a potenial 11.9 or better car...my sons friend just bought a chrome yellow one and is contemplating a ATI.

Well the first ford that caught my eye WAS the mustang Ummm after my dad had sold his camaro.I really did'nt start getting into cars until he bought his camaro. It was a 76 (i think) and gold. It was nice. I was about 9 when he sold it and then we moved to MO and I kept seeing a particular car I was attracted too when I found out what it was I been hooked ever since So technically it was a camaro that started my interest in cars but the mustang is what kept it Plus my dad likes ford and I suppose as the saying goes Like father like daughter Hehehe

when i was 17,it was a 77 couger w a 351m 400 in it .........the thing only did like 0-60 in five minutes .....but it got me into fords becouse i couldn't kill it(well not right away).......the thing took me everywhere and as much as i beat on it, it just plain old kept going.........then i had several old ford trucks.......liked them for the same reason......they were tough as heck

i allways liked mustangs but my first love of mustangs came when i was 22 .....me and a friend talked my sister into letting us borrow her 85 for three weeks for a cross country road trip ......i had been around mustangs alot but that was the first time i ever really drove one for any leanth of time......i liked the way the fox handled and thought it was a good car .....

For me it was a 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible. A friend of mine had one when we were in the Air Force. It was a 390/ auto. Great looking car and got me interested in the "muscle car" Fords.

For me it was when I was 15 and my Dad bought a 1969 Mustang Grande for $1500. It was a rust bucket and he thought it would make a good father-son project. Well his work didn't allow us time together, so it became just a Son project. Then when I was 18 and returned home from Boot Camp as a Marine, he gave me the signed title and we went to the DMV and it became mine on paper. I had already been dumping all my money into it anyways, but it was still special to see it on a legal document. I kept it for six years and then had to sell it for next to nothing after 3 motors and two trannys and about a total of $13000 spent. I sold it for $3500. The rust was getting too bad and I didn't have the estimated $6000 to fix it. That's when I bought my current stang.

When I was a kid there were still a lot of '49, '50' and '51 Fords around and they were the real hot-rodders choice. Most had little more than loud dual exhaust and Oldsmobile 'spinner' wheel covers with a pair of fuzzy dice hanging off the mirror but to a car-crazy kid on a bike watching one roar by, they seemed like a Ferrari.

Then there were the '55-'56 Fords with the 292 or 312 V-8's that were also popular but they were overshadowed (and beaten on street) by the ubiquitous '55 Chevys.

As Rev mentioned, the '64 GTO (a Pontiac Tempest with a potent 389 engine out of the full-sized Pontiac lineup) was probably the first real 'Muscle Car'; a vehicle manufactured for the sole reason of going fast. Great car.

Of course the 348 cu. in. tri-power (3 2bbl. carbs) 1958 Chevy he mentioned, along with the '57 FI Pontiac Bonneville and even the 413-powered Chrysler 300 all were powerful cars in their time but sold in very small numbers. That trend continued with the 1963 409 Chevys and the '63 427/425 HP full-sized Ford.

I had an opportunity to drive a '63 427 Galaxie some years ago and although it's quarter-mile et was probably not much better than my near-stock '90 5.0, that was an experience I'll never forget. Just the sensation of the huge size and weight of the '63 Galaxie being propelled forward by the giant 427 cu. in. V-8 sucking air through two huge 4 bbl. carbs and a low-restriction air cleaner is an unforgettable driving experience.

The 1964 1/2 Mustang changed things forever and with the 271 HP 289 V-8 the Pony Car was born.
As we all know, the HP wars continued through the '60's and the Camaro was introduced in '67 to (successfully) compete with the hot-selling and ever more powerful Mustang. Things died out in the '70's but revived in the eighties with the advent of the 5.0 'Stang and the rest, as they say, is history.
I've got my piece of it with my '90 LX 5.0.

Some days, as I wind through the gears and hear the sweet sound of my Dynomax exhaust sing to me of power just waiting to be freed by my right foot, I think back on when I was just a little kid on a bike, watching the college-age guys roar by my house in their '50 Fords with the GlasPak mufflers and I think that, in a way, we kind of have something in common, and that's a loud, quick and fun-to-drive V-8 Ford. Some things never change.

Rob, i would have to say the 66 GT350 race edition. the one that has no bumbers with that front chin/scoop! that is what changed me! any 65-68 2+2 fastback is my fav. i dont really care much for the coupes in those years, but i still like them.

In all honesty, I can say it WAS NOT my '70 somethng Neon Blue Pinto!!!!! My 6 banger Verte(mustang) was the beginning for me and was my first good expierience...but nothing compares to my Topless to me now!!!
I'm also partial to Shelby's GT 350 and 500's and the '60's fast backs!!!!! Ummmmmm.....i'd like to have one!!!

Well I first thing that really got me into fords(and cars in general). I was 9 and the 94 Mustnags were just coming out. I had seen all the adds on TV(but had never seen one in real life) and I was like "Well, that's pretty cool that they brought the Mustang back." I knew so little about Mustangs(or cars in general) at this point, that I thought they only made the Mustang for one year, 1966.

Anyway I was going to the grocery store with my mom, we got out of the car. Then there it was. I BRIGHT yellow Mustang GT(with very loud exhaust) goes screamin past. I was hooked from then on. Over the years, I've learn a LOT more about Mustangs. I look back now and laugh at some of the stuff I thought or said.

Both are what got me in, and I stayed.
He had them both before I was born, and kept them till I was about 4. But I still remember them, and wish I owned them.
