Thinking of buying another motorcycle..
I had an 500 interceptor in 89 for 6 monthes and then upgraded to a VMAX. I got rid of it after someone rearended me and I couldn't ride it anymore.. that was 11-12 yrs ago. I'm thinking of buying another bike. I'd love to have a 750 but there really isn't any out there to be had, guess they don't make them anymore. I looked at the R1 but don't think I really need all that much power really. I'm thinking of buying a brand new 2002 YZF 600.. is this a good bike?
I know some of you guys are into bikes and I haven't been into them for quite some time now. What should I buy? I like the idea of a harley being USA made but don't like the riding position. I looked at the buell but it doesn't really offer much in the hp department. I want a sport touring bike, that is what is most comfortable for me. What bikes should I look at? Are there any good sites I should check? I really like the black YZF but wonder if a 600 is really big enough. Anyone?? Thanks! ------------------ Rick My 89lx(updated 7/20/2001) |

well this may not help,i havent had a bike for a few years now, i had a sporster-old one it was ok but on a bike you have to have6 pair's of eye's to watch out for car's but i guess you know that, i am not into bikes anymore but they are great , it depenends on if you just want to cruise or wrist it ball's to the wall, i work with a guy who has a cbr 600 but he stuffed a 1,000 cc engine in it jeez i raced him with my stang ,of course he blew my a$$ away but not as bad as i thought he would, but we only had about an 8th of mile to play .it's really what you want to do i have lost too many friends to bike wreck's, it's alway's the same- oh i didnt see him, just a thought.

Kawasaki still makes the Ninja in a 750 (ZX-7R). Pretty sweet bikes too!

Have you tried looking at Honda VFR's? The new ones are pretty cool. A pre 02' R1 has alot of power, I just sold mine, and it was a beast. I'm looking at the 02 R1's or a GSXR1000. I personally wouldn't buy a brand new YZF600, There like $6999 new? You can usually pick up a brand new R6 for $7299(that's what I got mine for brand new), and the R6 offers so much more than the YZF600R ever could. Sorry guys I don't know how to post pictures? ;o(

Thanks guys, I like the looks of those r bikes but they seem to cramp my legs. 30 seconds and my leg is all cramped up. I need to look at some of the different ones, maybe I can find one that doesn't have the pegs so close to the seat, maybe its just the angle.
Marty, you're right.. they are dangerous. But hey, I'd hate to think I'm getting too old to let risk outweigh fun . JL1314, I checked out your site.. nice . That first wheelie pic you have there made me laugh . I remember doing something like that, LOL. 1bad89, that vfr looks interesting. I looked on traderonline.com and found a yellow 2000 model that looks sweet! I like the hard luggage it offers too. I need to go look at one of those and see if it craps my legs up. I'm not big on the 'naked' bikes but some seem to offer good power, I still like the looks of the cafe styles tho(wanna look good, ya know ). You guys notice how the r bikes have the notched seat and more aggressive riding position? That's why I was looking at the regular 600. Kawasaki's 89 750 ninja was more of a touring bike than racing, I guess that's why I was looking for something along those lines. [This message has been edited by rbatson (edited 10-28-2001).] |

I just wish I could have "One" much less "Another one". I still live at home with the parents currently and mom said "No way" I believe her exact words were "Pack before you get it cause after you do, you aren't coming back". So the boredom persists. I have several friends that ride but I can't go cause I dont have a bike. And besides they are like stangs. I would need two or three, a Honda crotch rocket for going fast, a Harley - because it's a Harley, and probably a Gold Wing for just touring. Then I would have to customize and personalize all of them and that would get expensive. I plan on getting one someday but not for a few years.

Yeah the seat on the YZF-600R is a one piece, and it's pretty plush.

DAMN!! That's sweet!! Only thing that bike is missing is the fairing to keep the 'breeze' off at 100mph.

Ahh man, researching that bike.. it weighs more than my old VMAX and it cost
$17,000! hmm... I don't know... Thanks for the link though... who knows.. maybe I'd decide to go the payment route.. It is a sweet *** bike! |

I thought the gas tank was too small until I learned it was under the seat! I still have mixed feelings about it, but it's growing on me.

I think they actually copied the VMAx in a way. To fuel up the VMAX, there are a couple of triggers under the seat that cause the middle seat section to pop up, for fueling. The "tank" area was just a cover on the VMAX for the electronics and engine(ETC). Looks to me like they copied the VMAX but gave it a Harley riding position. Still a sweet bike.. I know what I'm be doing Saturday morning..

definately go to as many dealers as you can and sit on ALL the bikes...The sportbike riding position isn't as bad as it looks. Obviosly some bikes are better than others...the vfr is a good choice..I have a 95 rf900r, and just love it to bits.. |

I honestly don't know much about it, but it has a great new design and looks like a comfy riding position too:
