What the heck is a 255 V-8

I found junked 1981 Mustang GLX. I was going to buy it a use it as a parts car for my V-8 swap. But I ran the VIN and found out it is a 4.2 liter(255cid). About all I know about them is that they make 120HP. Are they a de-stroked 302 or something. Can I bore it or stroke it back to a 302? Is the intake, distributor, heads, exc. interchangeable with a 302? Can I make any sort of power with this engine?

Actually, I think they make more like 117hp or something like that, or was it 113hp? It's a debored 302. Pathetic heads, pathetic intake, carb, everything. It was Ford's attempt at better fuel economy and emissions. It failed miserably. The parts are interchangeable, but I don't know if you could bore it back. That would probably require new sleeves. Doesn't matter, it's not worth the money.

My old convertible had the engine and if you are smart you will trade it in for a 302...everything bolts the same but I found that with the 255 I was changing the head gasket and heads a little more than I liked..they are very under-powered and very...welll...retarded to say the least.
