California Gas.... What the hell is going on???
Well it looks like our 92octane has been replaced with 91 octane!
I just noticed it this last week filling up at the pumps! All the stations around town have changed their 92 octane to 91 octane. What the hell is going on? Yeah I run 87 for the motor, but 92 should be used when on the N20!

That's one of the main things I hear about CA that pisses me off. All the smog laws and now that.
In GA, 76 (the gas station) has taken over all the crappy Smile gas stations and selected ones sell 105 octane. And currently, no sniff tests. Even though there ain't as much to do in GA as perhaps CA, GA has it's good points. ----------------------------------------- 351W-powered 1979 Ford Mustang notchback Stock 5.8L under 4" cowl, C4 w/ shift kit Holley 750 cfm, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake 1 5/8" MAC shorty headers, Al driveshaft 2.5" Off road H-pipe, 2-chamber Flowmasters Front: 225/60/15, Rear: 255/60/15 Eagle GT II Weld wheels (15x6;15x8), 8.8" Rear w/ 3.55s 14 x 4” K&N air filter (getting the Xtreme setup someday) "Red, thou art my companion. I would expect the GA laws to change soon. I have flown in and out of Atlanta 8 or 9 times in the past 2 years, and the smog there is alot worse than it is in L.A. Watch out for stricter emissions testing.
Sky- With the exception of the Texaco on Victoria by Salzars, I haven't seen 92 octane around here since they got rid of leaded 76 Super. I'm sure some stations carry it, but 91 has pretty much been the standard for years. You can buy 110 at Ventura Raceway on Saturday nights when there's racing. Bring your own 5 gallon fuel bottle. Smog laws are only going to get more strict. I have to smog my car in October. I've already taken the supercharger off, now I have to find the original air intake and put my stock exhaust back on. I lost the rubber boot from the maf to the throttle body and it's $70 new.

That sucks man. In Detroit you can get 93/94 octane pretty much everywhere and there has not been any emissions testing here for about 5 or more years.
What sucks is premium can range from 1.50 a gallon to 1.90 a gallon in a day or two. ------------------ 1988 Mustang GT 11.8 @ 123 (7/14/01) 1992 BadAzz Wrangler 1993 Explorer See my car at: www.mustangworks.com/cgi-bin/moi-display.cgi?179 |

Just filled up with the 91 proof in Sonoma County Calif. The attendent thought he was a way for Union to make more $$$$$$..Heck you can't even find diesel around here and just bought a 2001 powerstroke. Nothing but poison vineyards and jerks moving in the area, after 60 years here, thinking about pulling out
