I'm a certified welder for the government. I'm working on my third Mustang Cobra. I have owned a 79 cobra, a 03 cobra and now I am working on a 99 cobra. I have two son that both own mustang. One has a 94 GT the other has a 00 mustang. I guess were a mustang family.

I started out as a teenager as a waitress to cashier. I eventually went off to college and got my degrees in marine biology. I owned a 86 and a 94 mustang before I finally switch to a SUV. I owned a mach with now my x-husband which he still has the car. He loves that car and it does suit him. He told me soon after we got it that he got his self-esteem back. I have worked in aquariums taking care of various animals like sea turtles, sharks, rays, and different kinds of fish. I have also trained dolphins and river otters. I also worked in marine research. I have had a variety of experiences and opportunities of a life time. Now I am working in the medical field and trying to get a degree in radiography to eventully hopfully to do MRIs. I loved the marine biology field and still do plan to do things in it as a hobbie. It does not provide the opportunity to settle down and support myself without another job. I want to settle down and have a family. I felt like that the medical field was the direction to go. Although, I do not own a mustang any longer, I still love them and they are one of my favorites. I love to go to car shows to see the cars.

I am a 3rd party consultant/inspector for the offshore oilfield. I am currently in Jersey watching over production and testing of steel tubes. Hopefully when I get home, if my current boss doesnt have any more work for me around Houston, I can go back to NASA. I was working as QA in the ARCJet facility. Basically, we burned up tile samples for the shuttles (no, I wasnt there a couple of years ago). I was only there for about a month, before coming up here.

I never thought about you being from Amarillo. I'm currently in Borger working at a refinery. I'm too lazy to check what company is the second largest producer, but you don't happen to drive to Borger everyday do you?

Anyways, I'm a mechanical engineer working for an engineering/consulting firm. I work in the process/industrial division where out major clients are food producers, chemical production plants, and oil refineries. I'm currently working at our Borger, TX jobsite, which is at an oil refinery.

The key words here are "refining company" While there are larger oil companies, we are the second largest in refining capacity. The term "Greenfield" and its predisposition toward fire station absorption describes what happened to my last office. Perhaps you've heard the term.

I'm an engineer with NASA...for 17 years now. I manage two cryogenic facilities where we do research with liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen. I also started my own performance shop about six months ago. I'd rather be turning wrenches on a blown motor than pushing a pencil at NASA. Go figure....eight years of college and I'm happier getting my knuckles busted up!

Don't feel bad, Jeff.

My best bud has a degree in computer engineering but abandoned the field many years ago to pursue wrenching on cars, instead. He opened his own shop (with a mechanic-friend partner) 18 years ago, added used cars as a sideline (with another partner who takes care of the car-selling side of the business, which is huge) in the early 1990's, bought out his original partner in 2002 and now makes big bucks doing what he likes. How much? Low six figures per year - and he puts on a uniform, grabs a wrench and gets his hands dirty almost every day. Fortunately, he's also an electronic/tech wiz, which helps him a lot these days in the incresingly electronic-based auto repair field.

He plans to sell out in 5 years or so (for 1, maybe 2 million ) and go do something else. After spending his adult life working on cars, he's finally getting bored with it and is leaning toward doing something with light planes, instead. He's a licensed commercial pilot and might open up a light-plane repair/refurbishing facility...or - according to him - he may just go to Hawaii and sit on the beach. Oh yeah: he's only 45.

The point is that even with a nice, safe, steady career, you have to do what makes you happiest, if you can. After all, we only get the one chance. Do what you want, not what you think you should. It may not work out...but then again, maybe it will.
