time for new thermostat, what kind?
i hear all kinds of stuff about this thermo better than that one, and this one sucking compared to that one
i don't know what kind is in there, (only had the car a year) but my temp never goes above the first mark unless i nail 1st and 2nd, then it only goes to the second and drops back down what kind should i get? ------------------ SHaFTed 91GT, Flows, dumps, 70MM BBK TB, K&N, Hurst short throw, T5, 17" Lexani Roma wheels, 235/40/R17 on front, 255/45/R17 on back, mach1 hood, LX tail lights, bright red! |

Not sure about brand, but stick with something stock if you don't have cooling problems. Nothing less than 180 degrees.

can i get a 180+ thermo from the local parts store? (oreilly/autozone/advance)

You should be able to. Talk to the parts guy to see if one brand is more accurate than others.

Which is better for a basically stock 5-liter engine, 160 or 180* thermo? What is the difference?

I think for a mostly stock motor the 180 is the best choice. The difference is when it opens up to allow coolant to flow. Shouldnt go to a 160 unless cooling is a problem.

I just replaced mine and bought a new gasket for 55 CENTS!!
