What kind of rear wheel #'s does this Camaro make?

This guy I plan on racing just finished his car, a '85 Camaro. His current setup is a used 2-bolt main 350 with '86-up centerbolt heads, Performer RPM intake, Holley 4160 600 cfm vac sec carb, HEI, a MSD box, Edelbrock TES headers and a 700-R4 with a 2400 converter. I'm not sure what gearset he's running, but I guess it's a 3.73:1. What kind of numbers will this combo make on the chassis dyno and strip?

Without knowing the cam and pistons, it's really hard to guess accurately, but I would say between 250 and 300hp, and probably run mid 13's.

Take care,
-Chris

Doesn't exactly sound like a stout combo to me, the centerbolt heads were nothing special (they were from the era of the 15 second vette) so I'm going to say about 225 to the rear wheels. Although lots of chevy guys think that a 350 automatically starts with 300hp even if its a mid 80's weakling.

Good point. I was just thinking that if he took the time and trouble to put in a convertor that he's got some internal work done as well.

Take care,
-Chris

That is right.......

The Camaro guy bought the 350 motor used. I'm not sure what cam and pistons he's running. It came out of a '80's Monte Carlo SS. I think it's just an old, cleaned up 350 motor, nothing special. He didn't rebuild it before he put it in. I just got to get my Mustang ready for a fight.

the 80 Monte Carlo SS didn't come with a 350. It came with a 305 TBI.

Tireburner163, I meant a '84-'87 Monte Carlo SS. The SS never came with a 350.

What do you mean???? You contradicted yourself.

I'll explain it again just for you. The 350 motor in the Camaro came out of a wrecked '84 - '87 Monte Carlo SS. I do not know where the 350 originally came from. I assume the 350 motor with the iron centerbolt heads came from a Camaro, Caprice or Pick up truck. I am tearing down my 302 motor getting it ready for machine work. I just wanted to know if I was building the "right" engine for beating this "Slomaro" or if I should build a 351.
