What would you guys do?
I'm new to most of this. I've been around stock car racing for more than 10 years and I raced 4 cyl Mustangs on short tracks in the Carolinas, but I've never messed with any street or strip stuff. I've got 93 lx, 4 cyl, hatchback with some body damage. My problem is I'm undecided on whether to make this into a oval track car, really fix it and make it into a street/strip car or just get rid of it. What would you guys do?

Re: What would you guys do?
Personally, I would ditch the car or oval track it. It currently has a value of right about $0. I would much rather have a cheap 5.0LX to start with as so many items change between the 2.3 cars and the 5.0 cars. Engine, wiring harness, cooling, transmission, rear end, brakes. That being said, a cheap 5.0 might not be easy to come by, and with a lot of work, you could build the 4 cylinder car up. Of course, that depends on the extent of the body damage. That stuff gets expensive VERY quick.

I'd keep it around for parts if nothing else. If you can't even sell the thing, might as well just hang on to it, right? :D

Re: What would you guys do?
I WOULD say that you should strip it of all identifying marks and stampings, then go slam it into a parked ricer and run. Upon further consideration, I find this to be very redundant because it typically doesn't take long for a ricer kid to whip his car into a wall while attempting to drag race on the street.
Demolition derby doesn't sound too bad, though. :D |
