What is your first memory with a Mustang?
Mine was way back.
I don't remember how old, but my parents had a '71 Mustang with a 351C 4v. They had it all beefed up for street racing, but soon sold it after I was born. I wasn't too old, I think I was about 3 or 4, but I remember the silver paint job with the big tires. I wish they still had it. I'd be mine for sure. I think this is why I love Mustangs. My parents also had a '78 Black lifted Bronco which I also remember. Could explain why I also have a Bronco now, too. |
my first was watching my first kill a 70 camaro disappear in my rear veiw mirror.;)

Kewl, but it's no fair when u run a red light.-J/K lol
|
haha, acually it was on the highway:D ,free post!
|
Oh, then passing a broke A$$ down chevy is nothing new.
I know the truth, Mustangs kill Chevy's. |
My first memory was when I test drove my first stang. I took it easy on the car when I drove it. My dad went with me. We went down to the industrial park where there are some pretty godd roads. He started to drive. Remember I had just benn driving a truck with no get up and go just alot of towing power. It was real slow but would pull the world. SO he starts driving and goes balls to the wall for about 15 seconds. The car was stock with 2.73 gears and an auto but it was the fastest thing I had ever been in. Needless to say I bought it.

My first really good mustang memory(really more like a experiance) was when I was 12. It was Christmas mornning and we were opening presents. My brother walked in said "Hey, dufus(what he call's me) come on. I got somethin I want to show you." And there in the driveway was a loaded 96 Mustang GT. It was all stock(boy that didn't last long) but was the fastest thing I had ever ridden in. He took me and my little brother for a spin. Man I can still smell the burning bubber and the thrill and adrinalian(sp?) of going 125 mph, and the ecoing second gear bark as Chris power shifted second. I have sense ridden in/drove faster cars(ie the same car 2 years later. Lets just say my brother is a HP junkie), but that first ride was the most exciting. I'll never forget it.

Well, my first Memory of a Mustang was when I was 10 years old. My family wanted to by a new car, and they went and looked at the Ford Dealership that used to be in Springdale PA.
I remember my dad sitting in a Yellow FoxBody, that was in 1987, but it was a 88 Model. I remember touching the chrome 5.0 emblem and asking what it meant. I never got told by the sales man, and not till a few years later did I find out. Oh, my mom and dad didnt get the Mustang, instead they got a 88 Mercury Cougar Blue Max special edition (V6). The second and best memory of the Mustang was when I was going to buy my first car. For some reason I wanted a Big Hoompty mobile (50's-70's Four door something) and my parents were like "If your going to get a classic car, why not get something nice. Like a Mustang or Cougar?" Man, I remember telling my mom "Because everyone has one.". After arguing, I finally gave in and went to go see a Red 64 1/2 Coupe 6cyl that was in the paper. Just to make them happy and to shut them up. I remember turning onto that road, and seeing Jolene (Cars Name) sitting infront of that house. The sun shinned down right on her, and it was love at first sight. I've loved Mustangs since, and have only owned Mustangs. I could kick myself for wanting some Pimpin 70's Buick or Cadalliac. What the hell was I thinking. |
When I finaly had enough power to pull the front wheels off the ground:D
|
I remember my first memory with my mustang, I was out crusin looking for a race cause i really didnt know what the car would do, well i got my race...against a 1999 camaro Z-28...it had the all powerful LS-1 I was a bit worried, but when i left him like he was standing still i felt so much better. i guess that was my first memory with my mustang.
|
My first memory of a Mustang was when I bought my '84 LX 5.0 when I was 16. I worked at McDonald's for 2 years saving up to buy it and pay my insurance. It was cherry and stock except for flowmasters, wheels, and tinted windows - I got it for $2650 in '91. We picked the car up and my dad said he wanted to drive it to make sure it was safe. We took some backroads on the way home and I asked him if it felt fast. He got sideways from a stop and kicked it up to about 60 as quick as it would go.
From then on I was hooked on Mustangs. I currently own 2 and have owned 2 others. |
When I bought my Stang, I didn't even know how to drive a 5-speed as a matter of fact I never even test drove the Stang at all. I saw the Silver Mustang and just knew I had to have it. My dad of course was trying to talk me into buying an auto, but being my stubborn self I choose the 5-speed.
To make a very long story short my dad had to drive the Stang home for me I was soooo stoked about my new ride, I called one of my best Stanger friends to come over and he showed me what my car could do not only that but he took the time and whole lot of patience to actually teach me to drive my car, took me about 8hours to fully get it down, but I did it!! Gosh it felt so good! :) Now not only do I race my Stang but modify my ride as well, who would have ever thought? Not me that's for sure, all I could say was buying my Mustang really did change my life, and I'm luvin' every minute of it! :D |
My first memory..
was last saturday lol. I just got my permit and i was driving with my dad and we were trying to turn left, well we only got a green light so we had to wait for a gap. Well my dad just says out of no where GO GO GO GO so i floored it and i spun tires left rubber and got it movin and finally turned, and got sideways but i made the turn and still recovered all in my first day of driving. God i love my stang.

Riding in the 69 Grande with crazyhorse, now that was an experience!!! Will say no more.....

I guess Mustangs have always been in me. When I was in 4th grade my dad bought a '66 GT coupe. It was pretty sweet candy apple red, flowmasters, long tubes, 4 speed. I wanted it to be my car but we sold it because it was rusting out from its years as an east coast car. We bought it in Virginia. About 4 years ago He bought a '69 Mach 1 428 Cobra jet that we still have. its gone to mumerous shows and its great. i haven't got to drive it yet :(. 2 years ago he bought a '66 fastback project car for him and i to work on. Were gonna make it a shelby look alike with some other custom stuff. mustang II front suspension, 351 stroked to 383 or 393 etc, etc. Supposedly its a five year project. And in September i bought my '89. I learned how to drive stick on my car (lots of burnouts lol). There will be more Mustangs in my future and especially a '67 or '68 fastback Bullitt style :)
later |
My first memory was when i was 16,and out in the dirve way was a 93 5.0. i was so happy and could not wait to take and show it off.
|
My first memory was a 1988 gt, I was 10 years old. The gt was white, the guy said it ran 12's, but what I remembered was the sound. It had 2-chamber flows, off road h-pipe, and a crane cam. From the moment I heard it, I was hooked.
|
My second momery is when I bought my '66. It didn't look good at all. Surface rust all over it. But when he started it up with open headers, I couldn't turn it down, it was only $500.

Hmmm......this is a tuffy........
I'd have to say my first race. It was against a '90 Eclipse AWD 5-spd. I had a broken fibula, so I couldn't powerstall to launch at all. I just had to take off from idle....with my stock stall converter, open rear end, and 3.00:1 gears. He obviously took me off the line, but within just a couple seconds I was blowing by him like a mutha phucka. I ended up being him by about 7 or 8 car lengths in probably about 3/8 of a mile. He had never ridden in my Mustang or seen me rod it or anything. He thought he had a pretty good chance against me. He was blown away after the race when I talked to him. I just laughed. My heart was pouding a mile a minute, or I guess, a quarter mile a minute.:D Sorry.....lame joke.....:( ;) |
BUDMAN94GT!!!!
BUDMAN.
Its about time you registered. Hows it going man? So, you and your Bro arent going to be able to make it out there Saturday? Dont worry, Crystal and Branden will be taping it. :D If you give me some money I'll bet it for ya. On me of course.:D Forgive my ignorance, but who is that on your Avatar???? Is she single???;) I'll never forget my first Mustang Street race experience. My friend (No longer a friend, now he's just known as Dick Head) was driving his 84 Mercury Capri with a 4spd, and 5 Liter. He pulled up next to some scruffy balding guy with this pretty asian lady. The guy was in what looked like a late 70's Stang. About a 79-80. My friend ragged on the guys ride because it wasnt painted, and said how the dudes car was "Misfiring" and running like crap (It was actually camming REAL BAD). "I'll show him the power of a Capri 5.0" is EXACTLY what he said (I was 15 when this happened, I was the passanger.). The light turned green and Dick head took off, well kinda. Next thing I knew, I heard this hellacious roaring, and turned to look out the passenger side window just in time to see this Late 70's Mustang blow by us with his front wheels just about off the ground. It was awesome. Thats what gave me the Need and Hunger for power, and the love of racing. I'll never forget how that dude looked or his girl waiving at us as They BLEW BY AT MACH 2. I remember I asked my friend. " So, when are you going to show him the Power of the Capri 5.0?" All he had to say was "Holy Sh1T." |
First memory
My first memory of my stang was the best. My dad had been telling me for a while he was going to get himself a new Bronco and give me his old one. So one day he called from work and said he had found one and was going to pick it up after work. This meant the old 78 Bronco was going to be alllllll minnneee. I worked all day long cleaning and waxing the beast and was so proud that my dad was going to have a new one and me the old one. Well I waited till about 11pm that night to see his new ride and show him how much I appreciated him giving me the old one, but fell asleep only to be woken up at midnight.
The sound I woke up to did'nt sound like a new Bronco, but what the hell it was 12 and I went to the door to meet him in my pj's. When I opened the door he was grinning and said "whatcha think bout my new ride". I could'nt see it because the 78 sat so tall in the driveway. On my way round the 78 he said " we'll I lied bout my new ride, but I though you'd like this a little better than that old Bronco". There sat my 70 MACH 1 behind the Bronco, my favorite color too. So there I was smiling ear to ear in my pj's at midnight in the driveway. Damm even after all these years it makes me grin to think about it. |

I'm like i dunno lets find out...I immediatly floor it, i had 4 people in the car at the time but it still felt fast to me, I didn't realize ho wmuch braking room I would need for the stop sign so I started to brake, and I had to step on the brake, I was like 10 feet passed the stop sign smoke flying everywhere from the tires...O god that scared me, and at the same time it kicked ***...I don't torture her like that nemore tho.lol everyone in the car was shitting their pants, I was laughing so damn hard.

My first memory was when I purchased my first Mustang. I did not know how to drive a 5-speed so I had someone else test drive the car for me. I did not know how to drive, but I did know how to negotiate! It was the middle of January in Wisconsin, so the dealer could not sell the car. The stang was a 1989 Gt, Black loaded with 41000 miles. I bought it in January 1992 for only $7000.00. I had someone else drive it home for me. The nexy day I had to go to work, in a mild snowstorm, with no 5-speed ability. I killed the car 27 times, but I made it. Then I killed it at least 27 more times on the way home!! After a couple weeks I had the hang of it and am proud to report I pulled 96000 miles out of the original clutch, racing and all! I was hooked with my first pony and I have owned four more since. A 1991 GT, 1993 Cobra, 1994 Cobra and 1998 Cobra. My next Stang is a 98 Saleen s351. I want that bad!!! IN time In time!!
|
The Saleen S351's are awesome. I'd love to have one of though. But I'm gonna stick to my classics. After I'm done with my fastback, I'm going to by a '69 coupe to build as a drag racer. 11s naturally aspirated is my goal. I'm thinking maybe 408 stroker from Indy Mustang Performance, and a 4-spd combo.
|
Well......I had a crappy 1981 four banger back in 1989...........
I was senior in high school.......My stang sucked but I loved it....... It was fugly orange, and not in perfect shape.......... It died on me many times, had a bad accident in it......Then fought the insurance company to keep it......... It must have been love of some sort cause I got two ponies now........... |
These stories are great, keep them up plz. Maybe even put some of your best memories too.
