What's the best sci fi show ever?

Hey everybody, what's the best science fiction show you've ever seen? Movies, series on tv, basically anything science fiction.

Personally, I like Star Trek, Stargate, Farscape (very kickass show), as far as series go. I also like the Star Trek movies.

How about everybody else?

Daniel.

Man Mystery Science Theatre 3000 personally takes the cake. It was so funny to watch. Also the new Dune series was excellent.

Hell yeah! MST3K was GREAT! That is, until Joel left and that Mike dork took over..... Too bad Comedy Central ruined it. A very original show with 2 hours of constant laughs and intellectual humor. I miss that show, too. Fortunately, I have a few shows on VHS that are still in good shape. Need to convert them to DVD before they fade/lose magnetic signatures/disappear forever.

Okay, I have to toss an honorable mention to The Outer Limits. A lot more convincing than The Twilight Zone, IMHO. The 'Zone seems more family-oriented, and it's just not off-the-wall enough for me.

Alfred Hitchcock presents:D

Hammer 11-09-2002 10:48 PM

Hammer's Sci-Fi Review... 1 to 4 stars

Star Trek: Started out OK with the original series and the Next Gen, its pretty much petered out since then... 2 stars

Star Wars: The first 3 movies were sheer brilliant storytelling, unfortunately, Lucas should have kept it at 3... 3 stars

Farscape: Good premise with great acting. Great show.... 4 stars

Babylon 5: Original story with decent acting... 3 stars

Anyone remember Battlestar Galactica?
It ran one season in 78 I think. Great idea with a great premise and competent actors. (Loved the Egyptian\mankind\space seed ideas)
Special effects were groundbreaking for TV at the time and costs eventually killed it.... 3 stars

Stargate: Premise hints at Battlestar Galactica to me. Decent show though... 2 stars

Going back more...

Space: 1999: Hated it when it was on. Absolutely vomit if I ever catch it on late night surfing channels. Although I liked the eagles (ships)... 0 stars

Twilight Zone: A classic in every respect... 3 stars

Finally, MST3K
Oh god I loved that show when Joel was on. Took the run down hill when Mike was on the show. Wife never understood what I saw in it... 3 stars :D

i would have to say hands down, the movie Contact! one hell of a movie!

DAN-MAN 11-09-2002 11:22 PM

Yeah I forgot about MST3K. That was one kickass show too. It was better when Joel was on it too. Mike sucked.

Daniel.

That is awesome. I found the "Torgo" theme on there, too. I think I went nuts after the 3rd or 4th replay of it.

Hammer, good breakdown of the more contemporary SCI-FI movies and TV shows.

I think I would rate them differently.

As for all time greatest movie. Star Wars.

Yeah, that was one weird movie, and very well done!

Star Trek is always my favorite, even up through Voyager and the current series, although I haven't been able to watch lately. Voyager was a bit downhill from the previous series', though, but still enjoyable. My license plates say MXM WARP. :D

X-Files is another awesome sci-fi series. Too bad Moldy and Scaly called it quits.

Ackbar00 11-11-2002 03:44 PM

You see the special edition DVD? It has some extra scenes and the BEST scene got edited out of the final cut but is in the DVD. It's the scene with the automatic sentry guns. F***ing cool:D
