Default replacing side view mirror...how hard?

How hard/easy is it to replace a side view mirror(manual adjustment) on the '79-93 mustangs?
Last night my g/f snapped the side view off of my '82 while backing out with my '88.........
Can I replace just the mirror or do I need a new door?

If it has the same attachment mechanism as an 87 or a 91, it's a breeze. Just unscrew the small triangular trim piece from the inside, obtain a replacement, take out the 3 small nuts inside the door and swear as you drop one of them inside the door, lift the mirror off and then swear a few more times as you drop the other nuts getting them back onto the new mirror's 3 studs. New piece just slides on unless she bent the frame. Then you need to hammer it flat again so there is no bulge. I must have snapped off my mirrors at LEAST 5-6 times _easily_ in my wretched awful obstacle course of a driveway. Might even make sense to get the 93's flip away mirrors and save you the continueing frustration. You can even reassemble a broken mirror cup by glueing it together and then using a soldering iron on the inside of the crack to melt it back together.

you dont need to take the door off. It comes off like the 87 with bolts. There is a set of mirrors for sale on ebay right now. do a search for 85 mustang.
