I got OWNED by the TURD!
Mike (the Deuce) stomped me in his 97 GT that he refers to as the "turd", lol. I did horribly for my first track visit. I didn't do anything to piss off the track officials though. We made 5 passes and I lost all 5. I didn't do anything to prep the car except to let out a little air of my rear tires. My best time was something like a 16.4 and my worst was a 16.7 (or close, I'm too lazy to go and get the slips). My best reaction time was .8 and my worst was 1.4 (the first). I'll post some slips on Monday. I didn't have my supercharger hooked up on any of the passes because it sounds like it may be messed up. I'll get it fixed within the next few weeks and head back to Carlsbad to stomp the TURD. Good races Mike, I had fun. Take care, Keith

you're telling me
It was fun either way. I didn't expect to win much seeing as how it was my first track visit, but it's all a learning experience. I'll show him my taillights after I get my S/C fixed. Later, Keith

I can laugh because my first trip to the strip was much worse than that (no reaction timers back then) ... I let my buddy try it and he did a burn out at the line, put it in reverse and backed up and then when the light turned green he ... yep you guessed it still had it in reverse !! almost hit the guy waiting to stage and humiliated himself ! My car may be the reason the burnout box is well in back of the starting line now lol My second pass i forgot to roll my window up and being as how i had a highly modified 427 chevelle to my left i ate a bucket full of his discarded tire pieces and track debris all the way to the finish line ! .... and track debris at over a 100 miles an hour stings like hell won't have it !! So i'm laughing because i've humiliated myself enough to earn that right !! lolol It is a blast though ain't it ! |

It may be of some consolation to realize that the turd is a factory freak. I have a handful of 15.2 timeslips with 2.7 60' times. Yeah, that would make it a 14.8 or better car with decent traction. Not bad considering its still stock, and those were quoted at 15.1+.
It was very nice to see a fox body in the rearview mirrors, and I'm proud of us both that we got out of there today without incident. For the record, the following were towed out. 1. LT4 C4 (threw a rod at the line) 2. Third Gen Camaro (what wouldn't go wrong there) 3. 69? Nova SS, blew smoke all the way down 4. 90? Turbo Civic, lost at least 2nd gear I'm sure there was more, it seemed like everything was breaking today. I got squirrly on a couple runs, but nothing too major. For some reason my best 60' was a 2.59. Traction was definatly an issue.

WTF ..........My bone stock 88GT vert @3000 ft ran a 15.2 bone stock.
Your probably looking at mid 14's with the supercharger, What was your 60ft.........and what was your mph....that would tell me alot. My 00' GMC truck ran a 16.4. Something isnt right,

Can somebody please explain why my car was only going 7 mph faster at the 1/4 than the 1/8? No matter which lane I was in, it always trapped around that. I swear it was reading 10 mph slow, but only on my car WTF?

I think the track that yall go to is Phucked there is no way you are trapping in the mid 80's with V8 stangs.
Both of you should be in the mid 90's. A 2.79 60ft and a 15.2 out of a 96-98 is crazy. The track is F.U.B.A.R'ed

actually
The trap speed was right on for me. I know I was trapping in the 80's but I don't know why. As of now, my car's completely stock, just with some weight added to it. I don't know if the timing was set back because of my s/c, but I'll have my s/c hooked up next time along with any car parts I get for Christmas. Later, Keith

And there is something wrong with Keith's 93. That car should have been at least as fast as mine, but I pulled him in every gear. We'll get that squared away ASAP.

I love the Shelbys, I would trade any car for them pretty much.
My dad seen this clone on ebay last week and was tempted to bid, but the car was in Texas and he would have to sell his Vette first so it would of been to late. You gotta admit that is one sexxy beast! §am.

Man, your car is running way to slow. Some of it could be the blower tune, but 16's, thats ridiculous, you should be able to rip off some low 15's high 14's no problem at carlsbad. The MPH shows your missing all kinds of power.
One lane does read intermitantly 10mph slow, I forget which one. Bakersfield is slow, C-bad is the best. Skyler

well...
I went home today and advanced my timing. It was set at 8 deg. btdc, it's now at 12 I think that contributed, because my car feels much more responsive. Kamaro Killer vs. The Deuce part II will be in a month.
