What's your best guess???

O.K. guys and gals, I'm almost there as my motor is just about done. What's lacking? My oil pan. Canton has just about got it right (third time is a charm....I hope).

Anyway, with any luck this thing will be hitting the dyno Monday the 22nd.

So, how much H.P. is this thing going to make? Read the scoop and then take your best guess!

417 c.i Windsor, SVO
Yates heads: flowing 343/265

Compression 13.5:1

CAM: Solid roller-

Duration:316int ,322exh.
278/282 at .50
Lift: Intake- 688 Exhaust- 672

Intake: SVO, ported

Carb: Braswell

Headers KOOK'S 2 1/4 with 4 inch collectors

Rockers Jesel

This will be done on an engine dyno so take a guess on the H.P. off of the motor alone.

with out giggle gas, I'd say about 450 or so. With gas around 600, give or take. The more the better though. Good luck and I hope it breaks the dyno!!

I'd be really suprised if the engine number wasn't well over 500 N/A. I'll guess 525hp N/A, I'm not sure what kind of N20 shot you're running, so I'll leave that blank.

I think the numbers are way off my self. That motor is alot like the combo they run in Winston Cup cause he's running Robert Yates heads. So those motors crank out about 700-800 Hp plus they have some rules that he probably doesn't. He also has more cubes, so I'm guessing 725hp@7500. Good luck man!

Well I think that cam you are using is aimed towards when the nitrous is on. So your engine will loose a little power running naturally aspirated. So I would have to guess about 670hp. Good luck with the engine. Hope it runs well!

Fox Body 01-18-2001 10:26 PM

Like 93CobraR said, that's close to Nascar setup. If they put out over 700hp w/ smaller 9:1 compression and you're at 13.5:1, ported SVO intake, w/ 417ci, you gotta be close, but on the Dyno and realistically speaking, I'm gonna say 635hp. (I can't see ANY way that it could be in the 400s. That's way too low.)

I agree with the nascar idea, that is why I guessed like I did (660). I was going to guess more, but I have a hunch it will be a little less, brand new motor, might be a little stiff. Maybe this will help the other guessers, even though I want that shirt also.

Whoa, dude, way off! I think you made a mistake in your calculations.

You obviously made a mistake in your math:

The double integral of f(x,y) with respect to x and y where f(x,y)= Pi * X(1/Y)

is obviously = Pi/2 * (x)^2 * ln(y)

Your answer should have been 563.41664823 hp @ 6612.77653 RPM!

The dyno session has been moved to January 29. Canton did not get the pan back in time http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...gboard/mad.gif

So, hang in there a few more days everyone.

As far as carb size, Braswell doesn't rate their carbs by cfm but by venturi size. If rated to cfm it would be around 900cfm or so.

As far as fuel, dont know yet. At least a 106 octane.

I will update the spreadsheet to see where we are at soon!

UPDATE

This thing is alive!!!! it is resting on the dyno as of Friday. It has been started and warmed up and the final adjustments are being made.

During warm-up got a torque reading of:
450lb @ 3200rpm

This thing will probably peak (torque that is) at about 5200 rpm so so far this is looking pretty healthy.

Weather permitting (i.e. no rain or 30 degree weather) we will dyno the motor Monday the 29th.

Good luck to everyone!
