What's your best guess-PART 2
And the winner is:
Mustanguy Congrats and thanks to everyone for guessing. In case you all are wondering, we dynoed January 30th. Horsepower 658 @ 6869rpm Torque 556 @ 5353rpm Torque stayed well over 500 from 5100 through 6600 rpm. All in all I am pretty happy with the results. We were unable to use my headers for the dyno session as they would not work. I imagine we would have likely seen an additional 10-15hp as the ones we used would not flow near the air. It's amazing how important tuning is. Timing was set at 32 degrees. Advancing to 34 degrees dropped 50hp. Reducing 1 jet size gained 20hp. Little adjustments here and there can make a huge difference. Again, thanks for the guesses! ------------------ SVO siamesed 351 stroked to 417ci,Yates heads, solid roller,Trans King glide and a little blue bottle of giggle gas. My Car |

Thanks guys. It was the coolest thing to actually see it dyno, I wont forget it!!
I took my laptop to try and get some sound clips but for some freakin reason it wasn't working correctly. Imagine that. I am going to take some pics tonight and will get some pictures up in a few days of the motor. Not bragging but it really looks nice! I sent my converter to Trans King to have it set-up to take advantage of the torque curve. Should have it back in about two weeks. So, within 3-4 weeks I will have it in the car and running and will have some sound clips at that time. NoSlow5.0 You are way to generous my friend, I insist on paying at least half of the freight!! ------------------ SVO siamesed 351 stroked to 417ci,Yates heads, solid roller,Trans King glide and a little blue bottle of giggle gas. Nice, those are very impressive numbers. I was wondering, could you stick a 2bbl on it and re-dyno it so I can win?
Once I saw the warm up I knew I was done for! |

I plan on running nitrous eventually, but I am not in any hurry to do it. I went ahead and had the intake plumbed for a fogger set-up. I doubt I will ever run anymore than a 250lb shot. The way I see it, I am going to have my hands full for quite some time on the motor alone. Getting the car tuned will be a trick. Once I get that accomplished I will put some of the juice to it Unit 5302 Hmmm, a 2bbl, I just might. Still a lot of power AND good gas mileage too!! ------------------ SVO siamesed 351 stroked to 417ci,Yates heads, solid roller,Trans King glide and a little blue bottle of giggle gas. My Car |

hey kevin one more question, how far up in the rpms til the torque curve drops off on that thing? 400+ inches at 7000+ rpms is a deadly thing!
when are you gonna post the dyno graph? i wanna see it! |

What was mustanguy's guess, mine was 660? I don't mean to sound like a little whiner, but I want a shirt too. I think his guess was 645, mine was only two away, unless my guess was not good due to the fact that I guessed over. Either way you have a stout engine and good luck at the track.

Yes, you were closer but you went over. We tried to get it to 660 but decided 7 pulls was enough. smooth Torque hit 515 at 5056rpm, peaking at 556@5353. It dropped to 499ft. lb at 6913. I didnt get a graph, just a list of numbers. It shows my HP and Torque changes every 8-19 rpm., starting at 3402 and ending at 6993. ------------------ SVO siamesed 351 stroked to 417ci,Yates heads, solid roller,Trans King glide and a little blue bottle of giggle gas. Damn I wanted a shirt, oh well. What do you think it will run at the track? When are you going to go to the track? I would like to see that, too bad I am in MI.

That's a hard one. I am pushing for 9.80's to 9.90's. A lot is going to ride on how well the car handles down the track. Ive been told 9.50's are very possible but I prefer to stay conservative. The previous 408 pushed a 10.30 and it wasn't near the motor so I should be faster than that. I hope to start running the car in March. I also am planning on attending Cyberbrawl if it happens again as well as Fun Ford in Ennis next October. Cyberbrawl is my main goal!! Hopefuly I will be able to meet some of you at some of the events. ------------------ SVO siamesed 351 stroked to 417ci,Yates heads, solid roller,Trans King glide and a little blue bottle of giggle gas.
