where did your username come from?

Some of you have some really interesting user names, that need some light shed on. so do it here:)

I'll go first,

if you dont know where the "five-oh" part came from then you shouldn't be on this site:) and the patrol refers to the fact that my car used to be a highway patrol car. Doesnt really take a genius to figure it out, but some people may have thought I was a cop or something, which couldnt be FARTHER from the truth :)

I have had the nickname Peckerwood for 30 years, so when Im opened my business, Peckerwoods Pit Stop seemed fitting.

tireburner163 06-25-2002 12:38 AM

My antics at the local cruise spot in my brother's blown GT earned me the nickname tireburner.

BTW to get it for Sat. nights, I had to wash, polish, wax, vacuam, and otherwise detail it AND cut his grass AND change his oil, AND do just about anything else he wanted.

oh AND buy him a new set of tires...back ones at least.

Crazy Horse GT 06-25-2002 12:40 AM

nice car in your sign chris, trade you my gt for it, hahaha:rolleyes: :D

The Deuce 06-25-2002 12:58 AM

Mine is an old college nickname. The fact that it also happens to be the nickname given to the quintisential hot rod is just a happy conicidence. Has absolutely nothing to do with '32 Fords.;)

Old Guy with 87 GT 06-25-2002 03:05 AM

mmm the old guy thing ........when i first got the gt ,i started going out to the street cruising/racing scene ,....well it seemed like everybody i met was like a teenager or in there early twentys .........and then it seemed that most of the peaple with fox stangs in my area were younger then me ,at the track ,and on the street ........well the teens into the street scene seemed to dub me "the older guy with the maroon mustang ".

....so ....when i stumbled apon mustang works ,i just figured it was an ok and practicle name.......well then i started posting and found out there's alot peaple my age into stangs (found out there was some "real" old peaple into stangs too .....really really old peaple ....lol :D ) ,but by then peaple started to know me as old guy , so i just left the name .......

for anyone who dosn't know ,i'm not real old ......(old enough to know better ,but still to young to care)

p.s........ the kids into the street scene just call me "crazy jim" now .......can't figuere out why though  ;) :D

Mr 5 0 06-25-2002 08:42 AM

Mr. 5 0

Good thread; we haven't done one of these for awhile and it helps personalize things around here, which I encourage.

I'm asked about my user name a lot and I've noticed it's imitated a lot, too, so I guess it was a good choice,

When I first bought my Mustang LX the garage I hung out at had a mechanic, Dave, (who was a Corvette owner) and he loved my 'Stang. After a few weeks, he started saying: "Hey, it's Mister 5 0" whenever I stopped by, and the name stuck.

When I originally registered for Mustang Works and was asked for a User Name, I was stumped for a minute, then I thought of my 'shop name' and 'Mr. 5.0' was born.

I don't go to other Mustang websites anymore but I'm still registerd on the Corral and a few others as 'Mr. 5 0'.

OnMy3rdStang 06-25-2002 10:48 AM

Mine is pretty self explanitory....I am on my 3rd mustang.:p :D

lx mike 06-25-2002 01:08 PM

0h n0 5.0 06-25-2002 02:47 PM

pretty simple, i had my crown vic, it was a 5.0, when i registered here with the intentions of gettin a 5.0 mustang (wanted a fox) but found my lean green 94 GT 5.0. luckily, I got to keep my name "0h n0 5.0" describing how I drove my crownvic :D and also part from a licence plate i see at our local cruise in every 3rd saturday of the months.

#1 Pony 06-25-2002 03:30 PM

Well my name has a short story to it.

Well I was out with my mom (I did not have my plastic then).
And a purple mustang drove by (can't remember if it was a GT or v6, I think GT but there are so many fakers out here). The plate said '1 Pony' and I had to think about it for a sec. OH!! #1 Pony.
So when I signed up here they asked for a name and I really liked '1 Pony' and that's how I got it.

Ok.. some would call that stealing! Ha ha ha ha ha...
I still love the name. I'm going to change it when I get my 1st Mustang.

1969Mach1 06-25-2002 05:38 PM

I'm pretty sure my name doesn't need any explanation. Not much thought went into it but it saved future questions. :D

Some interesting names on the board though and cool stories behind them. :D

silver_pilate 06-25-2002 09:11 PM

Well...when I first actually joined MustangWorks (had been lurking for a while), I was looking seriously into buying a silver 91 GT. Alas, my well made plans were laid to waste on my birthday when I went to purchase the car. It had been sold the day before.

Thus comes "silver."

"pilate" actually pays small tribute to a little known Pearl Jam song and the story I was told behind it. Pilate, of course, refers to Pontius Pilate. Eddie's song says, "like Pilate, I have a dog." This is an obscure reference to lore that after Pilate witnissed the crucifiction of Jesus Christ and the accompanying events of that day, he took his dog out with him to a hill overlooking the city and sat contemplating on what he had done. As it is, we all face such situations of reflection, and thus, if you use your imagination like Mr. Vedder, like Pilate, we have a dog.

Thus comes "pilate."

Plus it's a cooler way of spelling Pilot. :)

polara7777 06-25-2002 11:51 PM

Polara is my baby. I have a 67 Dodge Polara 500 that was my grandfathers before he passed away. He left it to me. I met him once when I was about one, he passed away shortly after that. My grandmother drove it for a little while. I had been sitting there for a few years before my dad and mom went down to AZ to help my grandmother move and it was finally going home to me. They changed the oil, plugs, points and battery and it fired right up. Then drove all the way to MS. The only thing that went wrong on the trip back is the tires went flat. I finally had my baby at 16. Got my first ticket a couple days later. :) The car is also special ordered. My granddad worked at a dodge dealership when he bought it. It has the fender lights (a 68 option) and the 383 HP motor. The HP motor didn't come out officially till 68 either. So that's the story behind the Polara part.
7777= the sevens heh well just after i got the car my dad wanted to set-up an aol acount for me. Polara was taken so was everything else so he just went with one they gave which was polara7777. Now I use it for everything just cuase my memory really blows.
That's the history behind my name.

LMAO....oh...that's...waaaay too funny, ha ha ha. (by now people are looking into my office wondering what the hell the new guy is doing laughing insanely at his laptop)

Mine has a little trick to it. I could have gone with 1995mustanggt, which would be named for my 1995 Mustang GT. However, I thought that I would spice things up by droping the 19... Hence 95mustanggt is left over. There are only 2 things I don't like about my name.

1. If I ever change cars (to a newer mustang of course) my name no longer makes any sense

2. Other people can go by 96mustanggt or 94mustanggt which is pretty dam close to me. To my knowledge that only one who is that close is 98mustangGT.

:)

Topless In Texas 06-27-2002 12:14 PM

LAME STORY

Well, there is nothing exciting about my story! When I started to show my car and was getting my display sign done, everyone always has a 'title' or a 'pet name' for thier car, and I needed one...... hence I came up w/ mine:
Topless: My convertible
Texas: Where I live
I love both of them! I also have "I'd Rather Be Topless" on my lisence plate bracket on the rear end. Although, for some reason, some people seem to think I might be a 'dancer' or something to that affect! NOT! Go figure!http://216.40.201.38/contrib/anym/nike.gif

And when i do my abbreviation, TNT, I used the 'N' for 'IN', cuz I dont think it would be 'appropriate' for the boards if I used the real letters... :)
TNT

Tod 06-27-2002 12:55 PM

since i have the most exciting name on the board i'd better explain it's origin. ok it's dumbest name on the board, so there lol.

actually it's not what you might think, my name isn't even "Tod". the only reason i used that name was to go "undercover" in a way. why? i have no idea, i wasn't planning on staying, just asking some questions about the car and ducking out a few weeks later but, here i still am. my name is actually T.J. (T not standing for Tod either) and i'm planning on changing my username shortly to something else anyway.

WyldeBLS 06-27-2002 01:11 PM

Well, im also a musician. I play guitar, and for a long time, Zakk Wylde has been my hero and favorite guitar player and role model.

History Lesson #1: Zakk Wylde started playing with Ozzy Osbourne when he was 18 in 1987. He played on the albums "No Rest For The Wicked", "Just Say Ozzy", "No More Tears", "Live and Loud", "Ozzmosis", "Down To Earth", and the new "Live at Budokan."

History Lesson #2: After leaving Ozzy, he formed a southern rock band "Pride and Glory", in which I reccommend them to everyone. In 1996, he went solo under the name "Zakk Wylde" and did an acoustic album entitled "Book of Shadows" in which is very very melodic and is kool as sh*t. Then, in 1998, he formed Black Label Society, one of the heaviest bands around that doesn't stray from its roots(Sabbath and Pantera sounding music).

Zakk is now touring with both Ozzy and BLS(Black Label) on the Ozzfest.

Hence "WyldeBLS".

Tod 06-27-2002 01:46 PM

i see you've been here a short time, and, well, welcome to MW :)

Frankenstang65 06-28-2002 04:41 AM

The whole Frankenstang thing came up when I started tearing the car apart for restoration last summer. As I removed and stripped each of the major body panels I noticed that they were pretty much all original parts. The funny thing about it is that nearly all of them had been scavenged off a different mustang throughout my car's long and abused history. Though all original ford pieces, there is not a single major removable part on the outside of the car that had been on it when it left the factory. The fenders, doors, hood, trunklid, headlight buckects, etc all came from numerous donor cars. The entire powertrain is the same way, all mustang parts, just not from my mustang.
When I was discussing this with a friend he was like "geez man, your car is made up of like 15 other dead mustangs, it's like the frankenstien of the auto world". And so the name was quickly adapted to Frankenstang, and then to Frankenstang65 for message board purposes. And plus, with the 351 under the hood, it is a bit of a "monster" by stock 65 mustang standards. I think it fits.

Later

Mustangbelle306 06-28-2002 06:33 AM

Mine's a no brainer too.

Mustang = duh

Belle = when I moved from Maryland to VA, I picked up a southern accent, and was the butt of jokes when I went home to visit  ya'll, jaw-juh instead of Georgia etc, hence I was now a "suthern belle"

306 = duh again

KiltedBanshees93GT 06-29-2002 12:01 AM

Mine came from when I preformed in the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I also did the preshow to warm the audience up, and my "uniform" for preshow was a kilt and a tophat. The opening number we used to do was the Beastie Boys "Fight for your right to party" which I used to sing with a mike and quite a sound system backing me up.
One of the other cast members made a comment at a party one night that I was the "kilted banshee", and the name sort of stuck.
93gt=self explanitory
