Win A Computer....

Sorry I know off topic, but I felt everyone would want to see this.
The site is giving away a 2.53 gig comp just to boost their hit count.

That looks like an Alienware case. Those things are pretty cool. Hold on for the move to blue oval lounge.

The dual 1.25GHz PowerPC G4 processors Ñ with a combined performance of 18 billion floating point operations per second, or 18 gigaflops Ñ put this fearsomely fast Power Mac G4 squarely in the lead as the ultimate high-end graphics workstation. The twin-engined 1.25GHz G4 runs professional applications like Adobe Photoshop up to 90 percent faster than a 2.53GHz Pentium 4-based PC.

Take care,

And how much does that thing cost? I could build a 4 processors ATHLON MP 1800 system for that price. Maybe a dual xeon 2.4ghz system?

Where is this test? Last test I saw put a top of the line IMAC 800 or 900mhz G4 against an athlon xp1900 and in photoshop the athlon was 2.2x as fast, and 3.4x as fast in adobe premiere.

I think it would be really fun to have a oh say.... 2000 budget and do a PC vs MAC build off? Should get some magazines to sponsor it?

Phenomenal Photoshop performance
Check out a performance evaluation using a real-world application. We compared the Power Mac G4 to a 2.53GHz Pentium 4-based PC, using nine commonly used actions and filters that stress overall system performance Ñ including processor, memory, system bus, and hard drive Ñ in Photoshop.

The result? The dual 1.25GHz Power Mac G4 is 90 percent faster than the fastest PC on the market with a 2.53GHz Pentium 4 processor. Fact is, even the dual processor 1GHz and 867MHz Power Mac G4 systems outperform the Pentium 4 by 69 percent and 45 percent, respectively. How, you might ask, can even the entry-level Power Mac G4 outperform a PC with a Pentium 4 processor running at more than twice the megahertz? ItÕs further proof that megahertz alone is a poor indicator of real-world system performance, particularly when comparing different overall system architectures. You do the math.

Hey Sky, the Mac may cost a couple bucks more, but you get what you pay for. Macs last longer and have fewer problems, and, best of all, use OS X! never having to suffer through Winblows again makes it a bargain at any price.

Take care,
~Chris
