yay!!! first ticket....
well i got my first ticket today :( , i should've seen it coming, i wasn't paying attention and was cruising at a liesurely 85 or maybe even 90 (i wasn't paying attention so i don't really know). I saw the guy in a blue car with push bumpers set up in a speed trap up ahead so i slammed on the brakes and luckily i got a 79mph in a 60mph zone (i think he was being generous because 20 mph is reckless driving and about a $400 more ticket!). I was on my way to see the superbowl at a friend's house and i probably just should've taken my time. Oh well.....sh/t happens i guess. Since i have no other tickets on my record (and i'm 21) i'll see if i can go to a mitigation hearing with a judge and make a deal with him. If not i'll pay the $130 and go on with my life.
Any idea how much my insurance will go up if i just pay for the ticket and let it stay on my record? Later, Rick |
The price of driving (fast)
Eric:
Sorry to hear about your (first) speeding ticket; always a lousy way to spend hard-earned money but part of the cost of driving fast. We all get them. Call your insurance agent (or company) and ask them what percentage increase one speeding ticket will add to your premium. Surcharges are generally calculated by a percentage of the premium, rather than a set dollar amount. |
