YeeeeeHaaawwwww! 10's baby...!
Finally!
Yesterday at the J&P shootout, on my last qualifying pass for the radial tire class, I ran a 10.946 @ 131.00 mph. My best et & mph yet! I was trying a new method for coming out of the hole. I usually ride the clutch out, but the track was hooking like a gangster, so I dumped the clutch at somewhere over 4,000, spun of the line a little & just took off. I got a 1.710 60ft on that pass. A little earlier, using the same method, I got my best 60ft ever of 1.655. It was late afternoon, the clouds had given way to sunshine, & the temp had dropped slightly & there was a tail wind. Everything just worked out beatifully! Unfortunately, the event was rained out Sunday. It was still a great weekend, with the Pro 5.0 cars of Mangrum, Grebeck, Pande, Samuels & Wassink (a local Canadian guy, his first time out) in attendance. What a blast! ------------------ 91 coupe 3.73's,long tubes,3" exh, ported stock t-body,ProM-77mm cobra intake, edelbrock heads,B303,1.72 rr's 36lb inj's,tremec, & a Paxton NOVI 2000!!! 10.946 @ 131.00 on BFG Drag Radials (275/60/15) [This message has been edited by SisuStang (edited 08-19-2001).] |

Kidding aside, congrats! Just imaging what you could do on a slick. 10.50's easily. That is one kick-azz street car. ------------------ 1988 Mustang GT 11.8 @ 123 (7/14/01) 1992 BadAzz Wrangler 1993 Explorer |

Thanks Rob! I still hope that we could hook up sometime. I wanna check out you're nasty ride too.
Also, you seem to get your fair share of street races! Ray. [This message has been edited by SisuStang (edited 08-19-2001).] |

How many pounds of boost do you see from that Novi? What size pulleys and what RPM do you shift at? Those are smokin numbers 130 mph in a street car would be a blast.

Congrats Ray! I finally broke into the 10's myself on saturday morning. I really wanted to compete as well, I was signed up for the real street class as well but opted out with problems. I did get 3 runs in that morning though. A soft 11.71, then a better 11.04 and finally the 10.76. I'd love to have your MPH though, man 131 is hauling serious *** !
I'm assuming your car was the coupe with teh BFG's and space saver skinnies? I'm also curious on your boost level and general tuning level. Basic settings etc... You can e-mail me if you want tc89lx@hotmail.com . Again, congrats! BTW, are you still interested in the T-Lok? Tim Culp 10.76@126.24 w/1.51 60' |

Thanks guys! Sorry for the slow response - I've been away on holidays for a week.
My blower has the pulley's that came from Paxton, (ie the 10 rib set up). I usually see 12 psi at the track with powershifting @ 6000 & around 10 psi on the street (not powershifting). Tim - Congrats to you too! I'm still interested in the Trac Loc - maybe at the rain out date or if you make it to a GTAMC meet or something, we can hook up. Yes that was me with the space saver skinnies - BTW - if you know of anyone selling 4 bolt Weld skinnies, I'm looking for a set. Smithbling - say Hi next time. I was pitted near the J&P trailer... |

Smithbling - Even though this is probably the best weekend for cruising all summer, I have to go to the mother-in-law's cottage this weekend (we're having my son's 5th birthday party there - can't miss that!)
Why put away your car so early? School or something like that? The rain date is Sat Sept 29th. See if you can make it to Cayuga then. Ray. |

Wow, that's cookin' I hope to be in the 11's N/A, and low 10's with nitrous. How do you like the drag radials? Do they fit ok? And what rim width and ofset do you use? I am thinking of running the drag radials in that size. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

byrnech - My 275-60-15's are on 10" Welds with 6.5" backspacing. I had to "massage" the inner fender with a sledge hammer to make them fit. If you go with a 5.5" back space on a 10" rim, or an 8" rim, you probably won't rub on the inside, but you may rub on the outside.
I like the drag radials alot. It takes a little more practice to launch well with them, but as I stated earlier, my best 60 ft is 1.655. |
