Post wiring harness installation

Has anyone installed a new/used wiring harness in there mustang before. My '82 needs a new ignition wiring harness and I am wondering how I am supposed to reach up under the dash to disconnect the darn thing.
There is very little room under there to work with. PLEASE tell me I don't have to remove the entire dashboard!
As soon as I get this installed, the 351 beast will be back on the streets!
Please help because this is the onlt thing I need to do yet to get it back on the streets.
Warm weather is finally here and I want to get this done.
