Those xmas trees dont like the warm weather!!! Our trees dont shed like that after the new year!! Your going to love when you think you got all the needles and then you step on one late at night cause some were embedded into the carpet! HAHAHA! Only you can have the shcit luck!

heh, I was going to ask if you had ever even watered that tree but you already answered that.
Those trees take a lot of water to keep them happy and not dropping needles on everything. I had a bad experience this year with my tree too. The tree I picked was absolutely infested with ANTS. Thousands of the little buggers were on there, and I didn't know it until a couple of days after I had the tree in the apartment. I had bought a cinnamon bun and put it down near the tree. I turned around to go to the kitchen to get a drink and when I came back they were ALL over the bun, the box, the bad and had a trail already started back to the tree. Sigh. I hope I got rid of them all because I can't stand them... at least I keep a relatively clean apartment and don't have to worry about them getting in to everything. ugh, if I could only find a decent looking artificial tree for a good price I would consider buying one. geez, were there any needles left on the tree when you finally got it outside?
|
And that, my friends, is why I'm all about the falsies!!;)

Next year wrap the tree in Hefty extra great big huge trash bags then haul it out. Or you could lay down a big drop cloth, lay the tree on it, and drag it out that way. I went though this once. Getting pine needles out of shag carpet is a major PITA!!!

What we do in our family is put a "special" bag underneath the treeskirt (it has a hole in the bottom to allow access to the stand and watering, and is 8 feet tall fully extended). All you do is take the skirt off, lift the bag up and lie it on it's side, tie the top and bottom off, and vioala! Mess-free removal! Can't remember where we get them. I think my dad has a stash of them. The key is being able to cover the tree before removing it. That will eliminate most of your mess. You want some needles, though. Such a nice smell... :) That or get an artifical (hey! some of them are quite nice nowdays) ;) |
my mom had a 12 foot tree this year in her entryway... if you catch it early enough in the season you can find the larger bags... hers said for 15 foot tree this year... but make sure you put it on before you set the tree up... and leave it around the base... man looks like you had quite a mess to clean up there... i don't envy you at all... that's why i'll stick with my 6 foot boxed tree :p
