your opinions please

i keep waffling about which engine to build for my 66 mustang, a 289 or a 351w. i have both blocks but i have not decided which to install in the stang. the other one would go in my grand marquis.
give me your ideas. i know pretty much how i want to build the engines but if you have some interesting suggestions feel free to let me know what you think.

put the 289 in the smaller mustang and the larger/heavier 351 in the tank grand marquis for handling/weight issues.

what are u trying to do? build a street car, drag car, etc?

rbohm 06-01-2003 04:31 PM

it is going to be primarily a street car, but it may see some drag and top speed action as well. just depends on my mood and funds. as for the weight penalty, i have already compensated for it in my spring choice for the front. the 289 when built will make about 300hp and will be fairly mild which is why i was thinking about it for my grand marquis as it is my number two daily driver.

i'd probably put the 283 in the pony, but it sounds like your decision has been made

rbohm 06-03-2003 11:01 AM

not really, that is why i am looking for opinions.

I would put the 351 in, but that's just me wanting a big freakin engine, haha.

Hey, what do you have in your falcon?

rbohm 06-03-2003 01:11 PM

the falcon has a 170 six, but i am looking to install either a 200 or 250, possibly turboed.http://smilies.crowd9.com/contrib/ruinkai/flame.gifhttp://smilies.crowd9.com/contrib/ruinkai/flame.gif

That would kick butt, there is so much room in the hood! The 6 seems out of place!

I guess I'm used to seeing a modified falcon with a big engine. When I saw a stock 6 in it, it seemed like it was just floating there;) I'm used to seeing my hood and others' so filled up with eninge:p The one with the 6 in is had this beautiful paint job though!

beware the innocent looking six as it may cause your V8 to see godhttp://smilies.crowd9.com/contrib/dday/laugh.gifhttp://smilies.crowd9.com/contrib/dday/laugh.gifhttp://smilies.crowd9.com/contrib/dday/laugh.gifhttp://smilies.crowd9.com/contrib/dday/laugh.gif
