Default yellow highlighted words in text???

is this new or is it just my computer. i have little highlighted words in the text of these messages that can be used as links to other sights if i press on them. car is one, college is another. i noticed it after my computer had a couple viruses on them but is probably a coincidance. anyone else have these too?

Why buy those programs when you can download them for free?

The best thing to do to get away from viruses is to use some version of Linux. I use Mandrake Linux and love it.

Another thing you can do to aid in that problem is to stop using Internet Explorer. Use Mozilla Firefox for windows.

I had to come back and write more on this, Mozilla is nothing but a spyware superstore for your computer that will trash your PC till its destroyed your operating system. The Comon home user isnt going to run linux, in my opinion linix sucks, thats why its not supported, on the market, and on any sort of systems period. Who would want a command line based os.. You just confused this guy to no end, virus scan ( norton 2004 ) Spy sweeper for your pop-ups, spyware etc, run them good as new. The other crap is not for any form of home user.

Whoa, hey I was just giving my .02. I did not intend to confuse the guy or start an argument with you. You are the professional here, he should take your word for it. Not mine. My apology to you 88 5.0. But, like I said, that is my opinion of what to do about keeping viruses off the computer, home or office.

And yes, the common home user isn't going to run linux. Most of them will not take the time to learn to use it. IMO, linux is the way to go. Windows (any version) sucks. It has so many problems it isn't funny.

Jim, you should take his word for it about spysweeper and norton anti virus. I agree with that. Especially, if you don't know much about computers

i went through the whole spyware thing about 3 weeks ago and after paying the 40 to Dell for their one time use spyware help, they told me to reformat my computer since i couldt reboot from a prior date. The spyware/virus had made it all the way to my system files. fun stuff let me tell ya

and that was after running a Zone Alarms antivirus, Nortans Antivirus and Zonealarms Pest patrol

Those are all free downloads that really don't work at all... You get what you pay for... but yea spyware is really bad, 40 bucks for a one time help, its free for help from gateway, but the program cost 39.99 but you don't have to buy it with us.. Interesting. Purchase software, or get it from your friend, as long as its the real deal.

88, I sorta know how you feel since I am like the family's tech support and they all have computers.

ADVISORY: Keep your backups up to date!!!! This should be no problem, being most everyone has a cd burner (thanks to dell) and knows how to use it.
I could go on and on here.

Sure you agree with me on that, 88.

That job wouldn't pay enough for me. I can't hardly talk on the phone with my inlaws without pulling my hair out. I give Gateway credit. At least they have tech support in the US. Maybe Dell does but they are all from overseas and you can't understand them. Everyone in my family has a dell, and they all tell me that same thing. My father in law once called dell for tech support and he got one of those arabic people. He asked the tech where he was and he said "INDIA". Dell builds computers in Austin, TX but the tech support is overseas. What's up with that?
