Your WORST car ever..
 

What was the CRAPPIEST ride you ever had to drive? Mine was a 1983 Ford Fairmont that I had to drive for around 5 years. It leaked everything except gas and anti-freeze, smoked like a freight train because of need of rings, valve seals, etc.It was a rolling environmental hazard...However, it served a purpose.

Well, can you believe it, but the only car I have ever owned is a Mustang.

3 '79s, 1 '91, and 1 '92 :D and I dare not say anything about my babies. :)

But the crappiest car I have ever driven that was our "family" car for a while was an 80-something Toyota Celica 5-speed. There is no way you can understand what I'm talking about unless you saw the car. I remember searching around for the gears, trying to shift the stupid thing. I remember trying to quickly turn up the windows using a vice grip :D :D b/c it was starting to rain REAL hard, and myself getting soaked and my Camaro friend laughing at me :D. But the motor wasn't too bad, it had a little pep to it.....:)

I paid $75 and my mom's Hoover for a then twelve year -old '64 Plymouth Valient, granted it was a 2-door, but the floor was so rusted out a friend actually stepped thru the back seat floor pan, with-in six months the back seat started to fall thru also. Finally the timing went and it was hauled away. My mom was so mad about the vacuum:D .

It was my first car, a 1972 Chevelle Malibu, (my first and last Chev), rusted all to heck, oil burnin', no heat in the winter, 2.73:1 geared P.O.S.! I did get my first nookie in that car though!:D

Just owned Mustangs:D But I learned how to drive on my mom's old car, 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass with a little 231. Had to rev it up to get it from park to drive otherwise it would die, barely ran in the winter and burned a nice ammount of oil. ~Brian

1980 Toyota corolla 2 door hatch 1.8 liter. It had a little chrome luggage rack on top and an am radio.

The crappiest my second car was a 1979 pontiac t/a (thats not that bad i know) but 1 it is a gm and second it had a 301 v-8 not the big block, this car was terrible!! Needless to say my last GM!!!

HEY! Not to rain on your parade but I had a '79 T/A! It was the first car I ever bought brand-new. It had the 4-wheel disk brakes, T-tops, 6.6 liter engine (Olds 403ci) that I later swaped out for a '72 455ci from a friends wreaked Grand Prix. This was the most fun I've have ever had in a car, but after 35 tickets in about 6 year span a judge decided that I was having too good a time. I was forced to sell it in that he took the license plates, so I sold it to a high school kid. A guy I grew up with is a local cop, he told me he hates that ^&*% car because it just gets sold from one kid to another, he's tired of chasing it down and he's surprised no ones been killed yet.

your not raining on my parade we have built a WS-6 car with a 403 it was wonderful,if you read the post it was a 301 car and it was horrible!!! My favorite movie is Smokey and The Bandit I like the real T/As just not the one I had it was a slow piece of crap!!!

wasn't the 301 turbocharged?

i think only 2500 where turbo charged and mine wasnt one of the lucky ones!!

my moms 86 taurus was pretty bad after about 200,000 milles it was hell to drive. I was 18 too then so i beat the hell out of it pretty bad:D

1969 or 1970 Chevy Vega Station wagon. This car had absolutely no power and 70 mph was pushing it. The joke was when you pulled into the gas station you had to check the gas and fill er up on oil. Everybody that had Vegas kept a few quarts of cheap motor oil on top of the fire wall under the hood. Burned a quart every 500 to 800 miles. I think they had some of the first mass produced aluminum engines and they just wore out.

There was a limited production Vega, I can't remember the name, with a special high performance engine. But I never saw one. This was the era of the 1.8 L "super" coupes. The first Celicas, the Opel, Cougar, Mazada RX2, Vega and Pinto.

I also owned a brand new Mazda RX2. Great acceleration, very smooth with 4BBl carb. Only prob was the engine had blown out twice by 30,000 miles. One of the first rotary engines. I guess they have come a long way but were never widely accepted. I liked this car but it was really a dog when you look at how long it lasted

Well i'm putting around with a fairmont as we speak since i'm trying to pay off college and toolbox/tool payments. $400 for this car although i haven't had any serious problems with it yet.

Anyway, worst car i ever owned was my '84 5.0L LX. That car was nonstop crap. It had 140,000 miles on it when i bought it and i paid way too much for it - i'm ashamed to say how much. The floor was cracked front to back on driver's side, the charging system had cracked regulator wires and broke down the first 5 times i drove it and there's a retarded choke system on those cars which i ended up replacing the carburetor anyway since the carburetor and choke system didn't operate correctly. The interior was smelly and i ended up using parts from my wrecked '91 LX 2.3L to make it a little more respectable. At 145,000 miles the timing chain stretched too far and it stopped running, so i fixed that as well. It was my first 5.0L and i had lots of fun with it, but it was the biggest pile i've ever owned.

I only paid $800 for mine...and it was only 5 years old at the time.....the dang cataylitic converter stopped up in it once so I gutted the dang thing and ran it illegal....'bout caught the dang car on fire whenb the c.c. stopped up.So, we nicknamed the care the "Firemont."

MustardJohn, Hi - John Delorean's "Cosworth Vega's" were only produced for two years, 1975 and 76. The first one's were all painted black with gold striping but in '76 more colors were added. Each one had a special serial numbered plaque on the dash which was a gold colored machined metal insert simular to the old T/A's silver metal dash. They were seen around Dallas often enough and a high school friend had one. There is one currently driving around in Garland, Texas. These cars had a 4 cylinder 2 liter twin overhead cam sixteen valve engine, electronic fuel injection and a factory stainless steel exhaust header. The Cosworth was an attept to keep the Vega alive but I seem to remember that it cost almost as much as a Corvette did then and my (then) '75 Chevy Monza with a factory V-8 and a four speed ate it's lunch. I understand that tey are collectors items now.

lol, thats awesome, thankfully it didn't go up in flames (at least with you in it) :D I also owned a '83 Mercury Zephyr that i drove for a year after high school - also a gutless straight 6. I put taller tires on that car and offroaded it quite frequently.

Fulcrum--- Cosworth Vega --- you are exactly right! Glad to hear there are still a few around. I remember being impressed by the price and the hype but already owning a Vega burning a quart every 500 made be very leary. I sold the Vega and got a used V8 Nova that made the Vega look like a bad dream. I changed to Fords in 1990's. Just couldn't stand all the GM's looking the same. H*ll at one point you could hardly tell a Caddy from a Chevy from a Trans Am well at least the Grand Am. And I always did like Mustangs and T-Birds.

Tuff question, I have had lots. My first POS, a 75 olds cutlass, 2 door, 350. It would do the coolest smoken dounuts. Traded that for chevy truck, you had to move your foot over to the right to stop the water and mud from coming up from the floor and getting you wet. Then I got a 79 camaroo z28 4speed, not bad, kinda fast but a rattle trap. Set a personal record in that car, destroyed it in 15 days, wrecked it in a race.

But the winner is the current ride. A 84 chevette. The slowest car you could ever imagine driving, 0-60 in about 21 secs flat. (no really!) rusty, rattles, no smoke though. 330 000kms. Got all this for a mere $100. Canadian too!
