I was wondering if I could be set up where I could be notified when someone makes a post on Small Ponies instead of just a notification that someone has replied to my post?

No, there is currently no way to do that for a regular user. Only if you're a moderator. And, I don't have that turned on either since our moderators would get hundreds of email notifications every day.
