Is there a login script on the main page or do you just log in when you want to post something?

Once you login, unless you've turned cookies off in your profile, you shouldn't have to log in again (on the same browser on the same machine) the next time you come back. The system sets cookies on your browser with your username and password to remember you automatically on the forums.
