Need help with pictures

I want to put a pic where my name is when i leave a message in the forums. I know how to do it (from asking on here before) but I dont know how to compress the pics so they are small enough. I only have the basic stuff that comes with windows 98, (paint, pretty much) how do i compress it so it still looks good??

Well, i cant email it to you, because i dont know your email. I tired to add it to a reply message, but it said I had that image in another forum. The forum is: big sound from a little engine?
If you get time, it would be cool if you could shrink that for me. thanks alot, my email is bmxmon@hotmail.com
