Its on our end. Really what it boils down to is the board is so busy that the index file for the search program gets to big. It contains all the data on each post on the system, except for the message body. The search program loads it into memory and then parses through it looking for match to the query your making. Its now so big (over 10 MEG!), that the memory allocated to CGI for the web server is not enough and it runs out of memory and the program haults. Ops.

This is becuase the author of UBB coded his search module to load the entire index file into memory each time a user executes a search, instead of reading it from disk one line at a time. Its faster to load it all at once, but the amount of memory required to do so grows with each post. Thereby limiting you on index file size depending on available cgi memory. I'm going to email him about the problem, and suggest reworking the method the module uses to search the file.

In the mean time, I have removed the first 1000 entries in the index and cut the file size drastically. It now works again. Of course that means the first 1000 messages on the board aren't available for searching, but what can ya do...
