Post Editing of Messages

Dan, I noticed that sometimes you edit messages of users. I'm not sure if you do it for vulgar language, for clarity, or technical problems (e.g. An image that is too wide). That's no big deal. I was just wondering if you could indicate what you actually changed by enclosing the changed parts in brackets or adding a comment as to what was deleted.

It's just one of those things that nags at me when I see something that was edited by someone other than the original author and I don't know what it was.

Speaking only for myself, I edit for extensive vulgar language or on rare occasions, clarity. I can't see much point in commenting on these issues, much less reposting them, as it may be embarrassing to the originator and can lead to unnecessary arguments.

For most of the things that I edit a message for, which is really very rarely, I don't see the point. For example, I made several edits to the picture posting thread the other day because there were several posts that contained bad links. Therefore, I either deleted them or corrected the links so they worked. Stuff like that, and if it does happen to be changing a vulgar word, I agree with Jim's points.
