Default Sponsored Links......

Dan,
I think I understand the concept of advertising for the site and all, but this new recent sponsored link thing...um don't you think it's kind of ironic how when someone types motor, they get a hyperlink to JAP crap? I mean I thought we were against rice here?

Even though this is a Mustang specific site... many Mustang owners also own other vehicles. I do. I own a Saturn, along with two Fords. Also, there's the greater factor that I have almost no control over what keyword ads are placed... as they are delivered by an advertising company MW has partnered with.

Does MW make money so to speak when a sponsored link is clicked on? Is this a permanent thing or just a survey of somesort? Thanks

Yes, the keyword advertising is to generate revenue to further support the site. It's advertising... not a survey.

Roger. Kind of like the pop-ups we used to get here all the time. Those went away, just staying wishfull that this might too.

The keyword tool tip ads are certainly a lot better than pop-ups. I personally hate pop-ups myself. The keyword ads are currently used in our news and articles area now also. Running them in the forums is somewhat of a trial though. It personally doesn't bother me or seem to detract from reading posts... as, nothing happens unless you hover your mouse on them. But, that's just my own opinion.

Any ways, as I mentioned in the other thread in this forum... stay tuned, a bit down the road I'm planning to offer some other site viewing options.
