![]() Well, firstly, only about 10% off the unique users that surf this site each month actually register and use an account. There is a LOT on this site to do besides the message board, and not everyone comes here for that, or wants to take the time to get into it. Furthermore, we do have a fairly active board regardless and a large registered community. But, post volume is kept down because we 1] require people to register and not be anonymous in order to post and 2] because we have real forum moderation unlike other sites and actually maintain a high standard, and an adult, mature community. These two factors alone cause us to have a lower quantity of posts, and we know it, but at the same time our site has much higher quality. And, in our book, that's what really counts.
However, you are correct, the board is busier in the winter because people have much less going on in the cold months. Races, car shows, and other events keep members more busy during the warmer months and so they spend less time on the site. At least that's my opinion. ------------------ Dan McClain, Editor The Mustang Works Magazine 1991 Mustang GT - NOVI Supercharged 377 Stroker 1999 Ford Lightning SVT - Supercharged 5.4L Triton [This message has been edited by Dan McClain (edited 09-12-2000).] |

![]() Dan has a good point there. I was just wondering the other day why people go to those "other" boards. If you post a topic it disappears in a matter of minutes on busy days. I sat at the Corral one day and kept refreshing just to see how long it took for my topic to be put on the next page. It took 10 minutes!

![]() 97snakedriver, thanks! You just paid all your fellow members a compliment.
AxemanZZ, exactly. And, out of all those posts there in 10 minutes, or at any other automotive site, how many of them were real, quality posts of real substance? Judging from what I think your answer will be, you just found the difference between the other guys and us. And that's an us, as not in me or the staff or the site, but as in The Mustang Works community as a whole. All of you are what make this site really stand out - period. ------------------ Dan McClain, Editor The Mustang Works Magazine 1991 Mustang GT - NOVI Supercharged 377 Stroker 1999 Ford Lightning SVT - Supercharged 5.4L Triton [This message has been edited by Dan McClain (edited 09-12-2000).] |

![]() Dan is correct, of course.
Some parts of the website can stand alone but the messageboards are one feature that requires good input from you folks who comprise our membership, in order to be successful. We can 'moderate' the boards all we want, but the fact is that without intelligent, knowledgeable postings from interested Mustang owners who want to help and share and contribute to the 'community' Dan mentioned, the forums would not be the success they are. Mustang Works messageboards have a growing reputation as a user-friendly place to visit where you can get a tech question answered (for almost any year or model of Mustang) post racing stories or just express an opinion without the endless arguments, flame wars and juvenile bickering you get on most other performance car forums that I've seen. Sure, we've been called 'nazi's' and other choice names by the civility-impaired who seem to think it's kewl or macho to flame and curse and act like morons on other messageboards, and to those folks, we say: "See Ya". Life is too short and our time too valuable to waste on these types of folks who think a tech board or even an opinion forum is a place to use foul language and flame anyone who has a different opinion about anything at all. Not here. So, we edit a few posts here and there and delete the totally offensive stuff and then deal with the fallout, but frankly, it's a very rare occasion when we have to ban anyone or delete messages due to messageboard rule violations (we do have rules - read them some time, they are quite simple and unrestrictive). We attract mature-minded Mustang owners (regardless of age) and you folks are what makes our forums the great places they are. The moderators are a help and an important asset to the messageboards, but we can't do it without your intelligent and useful input. I want to thank the entire membership and the Mustang community at large for their support and contributions to our forums over the past few years. You're appreciated and your input is welcomed. We hope to serve you all even better in the near future. ------------------ Mr. 5.0 Messageboard Administrator |

![]() I believe this is a valid and understandable question. I'd just like to remention what I said on my very first post here.
Other boards are very very busy. Day in and day out they're full of mindless babble. Which to some, is amusing while they're bored on the job. But for me I'd rather look at and enjoy some stimulating and informative messages. Not to be bashed by some teenager bored during the summer. Of course I still enjoy answering, "What kind of music makes you drive fast" over on the Blue Oval board and hear about a "great kill" on the street racing board. But I'm mainly here to learn about, comment about and read about Mustangs. What still really surprises and delights me about M.W.'s boards is the maturity level. Everyone is considered a Mustang Enthusist. Nothing more...nothing less. It doesn't matter your age, race or creed. It does what it's here to do: Draw loyal viewers...and does a great job at keeping them here. I'm a member until i drive a Chevy (NOT!!!) ![]() I look forward to making more good friends here in the future! Great job to Dan & all of the staff & members. ![]() ------------------ Blown & Beautiful GT www.Girlscantoo.net |

![]() I spent a couple of years as a member and looking at other sites. I kept coming back here because it had a a mature member base and I really felt I was a part of this site. In addition, the topics were always in their respective forum and I got to read the type of stuff I wanted to without wading through the garbage. Before long I never had any desire to go elsewhere and I still dont.
I always refer back to my experiences before I was a moderator when watching over Street Racers Corner. I think every moderator on this site works hard to maintain the quality that this site is based on and uphold it's reputation for being one of the best (in my opinion the best ) mustang sites on the internet. No, Mustang works may not be the biggest but that's not the goal. Its the quality that keeps people coming back, not the quantity. I know this from experience. ------------------ SVO siamesed 351 stroked to 417ci,Yates heads, solid roller,Trans King glide and a little blue bottle of giggle gas. My Car |
