Question Users deleting their own messages.?

I was just wondering why we cannot delete any post that we start?

The only time that I think this would come in handy would be, if I wanted to change the topic due to a spelling mistake, or maybe I just do not like the topic that I choose.
Just a question,

Regular users can edit their own posts, but I do not allow them to delete them. This is so if someone has posted a message or thread they can't erase it and then go back and say they didn't (just one example).
