![]() Lately I have noticed alot of titles on the posts have changed, and subsequently, the mods have let us know that later on in the post. I understand their position, more so with the case of I HATE COPS ...... post. I could see how that might cause a slight problem and could possibly use a little constructive editing. What bothers me (not that anyone gives a rats a$$) is that now you mods are changing the titles of posts like "I traded my mustang for a T/A" to something you deem more appopriate. WTF is that?
No flames intended, as I value my membership here and love the site. I know you guys have your agenda and act accordingly, but don't you think it is going a bit far? You are basically putting words in peoples' mouths. If the topic title is extremely offensive or confusing, it might be ok, but some recent actions have been questionable, IMHO. To think it is relatively harmless wouldn't be a stretch, but the implications are foreboding. How soon is it before you decide to modify actual post content to tailor your needs? An analogy used before was that the BOL is like your living room. A good analogy IMO, but think of how you act in your living room. If someone asks a question or makes a statement, do you ignore them and instead interpret your version of what was spoken? What kind of conversation is that? I think we should all have the right to infer what we may from a topic title, with discretion by you reserved for the nasty, hostile or extreme ones. A major contribution that I think MustangWorks has made to the "mustang community" is it's ability for people to communicate on common issues. Wether we can't decide on 3.73's or 4.11's or BS'ing about what other hobbies drain our wallet besides the stang, this is a great place to discuss whatever is on our mind. I believe this is best done in most cases without our words being altered, even if ever so slightly. It is a matter of principle. No flames, just a little constructive criticism ![]() /me watches as the title mysteriously changes ![]() ------------------ 1990 "7-up" Griggs prepped convertible, prepping for an AFR headed 347 this winter, and an S-trim in the summer. ![]() I totally agree with you man. I was just thinking the same thing when I saw that a few titles had been changed.
And they do alter message content as well. I have seen my posts get completely deleted (though they probably deserved it). I agree that some titles go a bit overboard and should be edited for either content, spelling, etc, but sometimes the mods seem to go a bit overboard as well when it comes to editing titles and posts. ------------------ 90 Mustang LX 5.0 K&N, Taylor Spiro Pro wires, Pro 5.0, 16" Cobra R's, 225/50ZR16 Dunlop SP Sport 8000's, FMS "C" springs, Koni Sport Yellow's, Kenny Brown Chassis support kit, BBK caster/camber plates. ![]() This topic recently came up, abeit much more aggressively by the late member imouer.
It basically came down to, if you don't like it, go somewhere else. I've found the Mustangworks to be one of the most user friendly sites on the net, and I've posted here more than 1500 times, so for me to just up and leave wouldn't be worth it at all regardless of what information is modified, as long as the actual opinion, tech information, and idea of the post remains untouched. My personal opinion is things get edited too much, but it's not like there aren't worse things in my daily life. Hehe, maybe it could even get you out of a hot spot sometime, "I never said that, the moderators messed with my post!" ![]() |

![]() I agree... it is taking it WAY too far! In fact, it makes me wonder how much time one can have on their hands to go and edit topics like this?!!??!!? This site use to be cool before it turned communist. First they MAKE YOU have the lame border around the side so the JAVA makes your computer slow and crashes netsape... not to mention it makes you run the adds that no one ever reads or clicks on anyways.... if thats not communist enough, they put words in your mouth! What ever..... there is a reason why this site went from the #1 mustang site on the web to the top 10.

![]() OK - THIS IS ENOUGH!
I am sick and tired of the site, myself, and my moderators being attacked about every little administrative task that we feel is necessary to perform in order to keep the site operating at the quality level we deem appropriate. We WILL take WHATEVER actions deemed necessary to make sure that posting on The Mustang Works message forums adhere to a quality level and that they follow our rules. Quite frankly, some of you sound like a bunch of whiny, immature babies that can't deal with even the tiny bit of authority we put forth here on the site. I don't need this crap, and my moderators don't need this crap either. We are all much too busy, and impatient, to want to continue to have every move we make on the site become fodder for argument and criticism and debate. None of us can work like that and we have no intention of doing so either. All the moderators here have my full support when it comes to this topic, and their administrative duties, and I'm not going to stand for whine after whine about it from anyone. We had enough of this kind of crap during the "imouer" ordeal, and I will not allow it to happen again. All of the moderators here are volunteers, spending their own valuable time and energy to help out The Mustang Works community, and do not deserve to be berated when they carrying out the moderation tasks I layout for them. Therefore, there will be no big, drawn out, policy discussion about it period, as we will continue to make any edits to posts deemed appropriate when questionable topic titles and content arise. And, threads of subject matters that are more appropriate for other forums will be moved. End of story... ------------------ Dan McClain, Editor The Mustang Works Magazine 1991 Mustang GT - NOVI Supercharged 377 Stroker 1999 Ford Lightning SVT - Supercharged 5.4L Triton |
