| quick fuel system question I have an 89 with 10 psi, and i just started installing a new cam, home ported heads, and a new intake manifold... here is the current fuel system 24# injectors Stock intank /w cartech inline pump 53 psi fuel pressure This worked fine when the long block was stock, but with the extra power of the heads/cam/intake and the fact that im going to be pushing to 6000 rpm's on the track now. | Well..First thing I would do is replace that stock fuel pump. Put a 190 in there. See how that does with the 24# injectors. Then bump up your fuel pressure a bit. Do you know how much hp you are putting out?? ------------------ 347 Stroker Motor: Balanced, A9P Computer, Cobra Transmission, Extrude Ported and Polished Upper and ported Lower, GT40 Milled Ported and Polished Heads, B303 Cam, BBK 1 5/8 Headers, 30lb Bosch Injectors, Holley Fuel Regulator, March Underdrive Pulleys, Electric Fan, Accel Performance Coil, Accel 300+ Racing Wires, Ram Air, K&N Filter, 79mm Mass Air Unit, FlowMaster Exhaust w/BBK Offroad H-Pipe, Hurst Short Throw Shifter, 3:55 Gears, Ram Clutch, Cross Drilled Rotors, High Tolerant Painted Cal |

when everything is done, im probably going to have it dyno tuned, and we are guessing, like 340~350 fly and with the mods we are hoping for 370~380 crank or 315 at the wheels. I have been told that this combo tuned will make 400 horsepower flywheel, as i guy did it except that the only difference was that it was GT40 heads, untouched verse my home ported E7te heads, he made 382 rear wheels.

I think we need a little more technical information in order to give you better responses, but based on what you've provided: 1) With 10 psi and ported heads, intake, exhaust, etc, I would say you should upgrade injectors to 30 or 36's. 2) Definately upgrade the pump - 255 or 190lph. 3) Are you running an FMU? At 10 psi you should consider it. With more details we can provide more useful info. Take it easy, E ------------------ 1991 5.0 LX Coupe - 38,000 miles 13.17 @ 106.14 mph w/ 2.138 60'

yes i am running an FMU. the fuel pressure is at idle with the vacuum line connected, it seemed to work pretty well. It's an A trim at 10 psi and the motor sees 8. Yes i am going to upgrade to a 255 intank. The timing is set at 9 deg. base and run without a BTM box, it seems to work better, then when i hooked up the BTM box. Somebody recommended going to 42 lbs. injectors and losing the FMU?

Yeah, you could lose the FMU and go with 42#'s but if you do, you may want to consider a custom dyno-tuned chip in order to sort out the fuel situation under boost. Or, just go with a Speed-Pro ignition ($$$). For now, I would keep the FMU on and keep the timing out of the motor (8 or 9 is probably as high as you want). With ported heads and intake you should notice a difference - keep us posted on the results. E ------------------ 1991 5.0 LX Coupe - 38,000 miles 13.17 @ 106.14 mph w/ 2.138 60'
