What is up with this site?

Hello Guys.

Not to be a pain, but I have been experiencing some very annouying problems with this site the last week. On varouis computers and varouis locations.

I just spent 20 minutes typing a heart felt reply for JoCat, and it didnt go through.

This has happened alot lately, and half the time I cant even get the site to come up, or even stay on.

Any probs guys?

From all appearances... everything seems to be operating fine here. I did fix an error in one the database tables that cropped up earlier, which may have caused the problem posting you mentioned.

Is anyone else having problems?

Same here. Having issues getting the site to load on some occasions, sometimes pages are getting hung-up, errors, etc. It was great the last few weeks, and then all of the sudden (today) it's been horrible.

Yea, same here. Sometimes my browser times out trying to pull up the site and I get nothing.

Dan - did you ever see my post about my problems with the email notifications?

StangFlyer 02-16-2004 06:29 PM

All should be fixed. Seem better now?

Hethj7 - If you are referring to the email notifications from our member email system... that was fixed a couple weeks ago.

Hethj7 02-16-2004 07:27 PM

Well, my notifications are supposed to be sent to my hotmail account. I just got three of them today, which is the first time in months I have received them from MW. I don't know what the deal was, but I guess I am getting them again.

StangFlyer 02-16-2004 07:34 PM

Oh, you are talking about notifications from the forums about new reply's to threads you've subscribed to...

I have also had some problems with loading, but mostly at work on my crappy dinosaur computer, I just figured it was the slow modem. I can't stay on long there anyway, too busy, and the modem line shares with a fax, a credit card machine, and the main computer's modem.

A few times last night I had problems loading here at home too.

Yes, although all of a sudden I seem to be getting some today:confused: . But, I thought earlier today it showed I was subscribed to five threads in my control panel, but now it shows just three. I am receiving emails about those three though.

StangFlyer 02-22-2004 01:02 AM

I do not believe that MW is causing your pop-ups. MW does not currently deliver pop-up advertising of any kind.

Yeah, no pop-ups here anymore(thanks, Dan!)... might want to download ad-aware( http://www.lavasoft.de ) or a similar spyware detection program! Then get a pop-up blocker ( http://www.panicware.com/product_psfree.html ) to stop most annoying pop-ups. They're both available for free.

StangFlyer 02-22-2004 11:20 AM

As a side note... if you use Netscape 7.x (like I do) it has built in pop-up blocking. Along with an extensive built-in email system, tabbed browsing, and many other advanced features. And you can avoid virtually all the problems with ad-ware and spyware, which typically only effect or get hijacked into IE. Not to mention its, and Outlook's, other concerns and issues. :p
