New 17" Cobra R wheels on Fox. Trouble fitting?

I just got new 17 Inch Cobra R's . Look great. However, when you turn the front wheels, there is not but about three quarters of an inch clearance. Anybody else have this problem and can it be fixed?

When I turn mine lock to lock, I actually get a little rubbing. These cars never turned sharp to begin with and now mine turns even worse. I have just gotten used to it and know how far I can turn my wheels.....if I need to turn any harder, I just swing the back end around

!

Well what tire size are you guys running? I am actually looking at buying some 17" Cobra R's, but with a Running horse emblem in the center instead of the Cobra

I am thinking that a 225/45 or a 225/40 or even a 245/40 may fit well without rubbing...but I may just be wrong.

I got 245-40-17 on the front and 275-40-17 on the rear. They only rub just a little at the extreme of a turn. I belive that 91 and up had bigger fenderwells. Mabey you could buy the later ones and use them???

hmm...well if there is a little rubbing...maybe i can grab some 245/35's from work sometime..hehe Wow, so 275's will fit on those 17x8 rims in the back with no rub at all? It's good to know that i can go that big on the back.

Got to ditch the Quad shocks. I also had to get rid of my tailpipes, but I had 3in Tailpipes. Other than that, smooth sailing

Also, Mine are 17x9

They are my 16's with 245 50's on them, but I think this is what you're talking about?

They are actually silver Cobra's not white.

The digicam is a cheap one I keep in my car.

Here are 275-40's on 17x9-1/2" wheels on alll four corners.
First few photos are on stock K-member.

When I went to Griggs, that pushed the front tires forward and outward and inch. (last 3 photos with flared fenders).

I got 245-45-17 Yokohoma ES 100. They are a great tire. Not quite as sticky as drag radials, but much better than most. Rear have no problems. Just in the front on a sharp turn. Maybe next time I'll get 225 45's to save 10mm. that should do it.

Well now, so what am I supposed to do if i want to run the 275's in the back?

275's are too big on 8" rim. If you run them on Cobra 17x9 wheels, thats better.

255's on a stock-ish Mustang are about the best of both worlds. Nice size, yet no fender rubbing... I would run that if I were you.
Drag racers might wish to run 275's rear, but then again they dont lower their cars,and have side to side axle movement on g-turns...

yeah, i just realized that the rims i bought are 17x8's in the front and 17x9's in the back.. So that solves the 275 problem. Yeah, i do alot more straight line running then i do cornering, so that hopefully shouldn't be to much of a concern with those. I was actually thinking of dropping it a little, but with those tires/rims my mind has changed completely.

So the quad shocks basically just try to prevent the axle from hopping? Would they pose an issue if I were to remove them or even switched them around?

Nope, no Issues. Get rid of them.

As long as you have aftermarket upper and lower control arms you'll be find without the quad shocks.

I have 245/50-16's on all 4. I get some rubbing in the front on sharp turns and in the back when I corner hard. I've noticed rubbing on the exhaust and quad shocks. One of these days I'll do something about it.
