Post 1/8th mile time

I ran a best of 9.56 @ 72 MPH in the 1/8th with flowmasters, k&n, and street tires with factory 3.27 gears. I just got 3.73 gears installed about a month ago and was wondering what everyone's guess is as to what the stang will run now. If weather permits, I hope to take the stang to the track and see this weekend!

Cool

When I first ran my car I ran a 9.40@78.64 in the 1/8th. With the stock 3.27's after I switched them for my 3.73's I dropped down to 9.20's@79.xx. So best bet is that you pick up about a .1-.2 in the 1/8th

Thumbs up

Oh by the way how does your car sound. I'm running the 3 chambers now, but I want to get something louder. I was just wondering if the 2 chambers had the same mellow tone that the 3 chambers do, but just louder. If they have close to the same tone as the 3 chambers I'll order them. If not I'll just cut my tail pipes off and add dumps to my 3 chambers.

I've never heard the 3 chambers, but I would recommend getting the 2 chambers. They sound pretty good on my car. If you do get turndowns put on with the 2 chamber flowmasters, your car should sound pretty mean. All you'll need after that is an x/h-pipe.

As for my earlier question, I don't know how much gain I'll pick up since my clutch has really been whining at me lately. I was hoping to get into the 9.30's with the gears. With a new clutch and some DR's, I think I should be able to run in the low 9's.

With the clutch, gears, and D/R's I would feel safe to say that you would be in the low 9's.

Cool

When I replaced my 2.73s with my 3.73s I dropped .4 from 15.4 to 15.0@94.4 and a POS 60ft time. Both of those times to the track I didn't have traction, aka: street tires, so I need to steal someones drag radials......
BTW, you may notice that's 1/4 mile on mine. I haven't been to the 1/8 mile yet.

Hmm. Time slip from 10/8/00

RT .400
60' 1.916
1/8 8.759 MPH 78.15
1/4 13.742 MPH 98.46

This was a week or two before my quickest run, before I found a good launch RPM.

I've heard of a lot of 99+ GT's running anywhere from 8.80-9.10's in the 1/8th bone stock. The goal for my car is to try to get it to run consistent low 8's. Whenever I can find some money, I think I'll go with the 99+ ported & polished heads, high flow cats, and hide a small shot of nitrous. I think this combo would make for a nice sleeper car considering the reputation that the 97 GT's have.

Yah that could make for a nice sleeper, plus you should be able to get those heads alot cheaper then the FRP Hi-Po ones.

i just ran my 96 GT at the track the other day. It's still bone stock, right now. But my 1/8th mile time was ok. I wasn't having much luck with my launching that night

60 2.262(SUCKS)
330 6.348
1/8 9.788

Hey Crumbie,
That would be a nice sleeper...
