12 second stang

Right now,
being as imaginative as I am,
I'm shooting for a low 12 stang on a NA setup.
This is what I'm thinking right now:

Crower Cams (no specs yet)
Stage 3 ported heads
honed intake
along with typical knick knacks.

Whadya think?

I'm assuming that your car is a Mustang Bullitt?

Los 07-22-2002 07:25 PM

yes...?

Actually, some upper and lower LCAs, maybe some 9 inch wheels with some drag radials (Do Bullits come with 9 inch wheels?).

They will go a long way in lowering that ET....
Think traction... think 60 foot.... a HUGE factor in a 1/4 mile run.

As far as the items you listed above.... It's purely a guess, but I would say to expect around a 30 rwhp improvement.

The easiest way to find out your times are, surprise, take it to the track and get some baseline runs.

Then start using the Mustang Analyzer on the site... its pretty darn accurate once you have some baseline numbers in your hand.

As far as 12s... with the above, I think it would be possible, just be sure to get a good launch and traction between shifts...

Have you gotten into the high 12's yet? Not flaming ya or anything just it's not as easy as it looks.

You won't need the honed intake the bullitt alone is fine, just need additional flow from the heads.

This is my baseline: 13.98 @ 100.57 with street radials.

Bullitts come with 17X8 rims and a 245/45/17 tire size.

All toghether, this is what my setup is going to look like:
CNC stage 3 heads
bullitt intake (Honed or none)
Crower cams
Bbk Long Tube headers
Bbk catback H pipe
Flowmaster catback
pro 5.0 shifter
3.73 gears

Just for that, think I can?

a good set of slicks
and a 6000rpm launch.

The gearing will be wrong a 3.73 in a NA mustang is a mistake. Your better off with 4.10's or 4.30's if your going NA this will put you through the traps at a better RPM the 3.73's will put you through in 4th below your peak power.

If your thinking about getting into the 12's on street radials on the stock suspension you may get close but again it's not that easy. You'll be in the upper 290-300RWHP range which is enough for mid to low 12's with slicks, full drag suspension and some weight loss on the car.

For Drag Racing purposes, I was going to invest in some slicks. I might tinker with the suspension just a bit but nothing really fancy. 3.73 or 4.10 :)
